Google Challenge Amazon, Falls to Business E-Book

Actually, Google has long tempted by the e-book market that had been dominated by the Amazon. The first quarter of this year alone, these online book retailers recorded a revenue of 4.9 billion U.S. dollars with net income U.S. $ 177 million.

While sales of media, ie books, movies, and music, contributed revenues U.S. $ 2.7 billion. However, only now Google's director of strategic partnerships spoke Tom Turvey, announced the readiness of companies to enter the e-book market at the end of 2009.

Reported by the New York Times, Amazon's strategy is different from that set prices average U.S. $ 9.99 for the titles of best-selling (bestsellers) on the Kindle device, Google intends to sell books at prices determined by the publisher.

Google also plans to sell online access from the titles of books to readers. Access means the books purchased will not be limited to a particular device, but will need internet access and some kind of caching is off-line (possibly Google Gears).
