From Saturday 5 June, 3,000 volunteers will give 12,000 hours to over 40 projects in and around Manchester. They’ll be working across a variety of charities including environmental charity Groundwork, Moss Side Adventure Playground and Wythenshawe Children’s Football Club. Plus, Snoop Dogg, Vampire Weekend and Tinie Tempah will follow in the footsteps of Lady Gaga and N-Dubz as they too give their time to help the local community.
Stephen Greene RockCorps co-founder and CEO explains, “With Snoop Dogg, Vampire Weekend and Tinie Tempah supporting Orange RockCorps, they are already making 2010 an amazing year. But, for the whole country - we’re rolling out the Orange RockCorps Collective across the UK which gives people the opportunity to volunteer whenever, wherever and get gig tickets in return.”
Spencer McHugh, Brand Director, Orange UK said, “We look forward to celebrating the achievements of all the volunteers that have given 4 hours of their time and earned their ticket for the Orange RockCorps gig. It’s going to be a night to remember.”
Lady Gaga, who volunteered for Orange RockCorps last year at Body Positive North West in Manchester said, “This is an organisation that I really believe in. I love the combination of music and charity work, it’s a brilliant cocktail. I hope that this is the beginning of a trend in music that will continue.”
Neil McCallum, Head of T4 & Music, Channel 4 said, "Orange RockCorps has gone from strength to strength and after last year’s two outstanding events, 2010 looks set to be even bigger. T4 and 4Music will once again be there on hand to capture these incredibly unique gigs, confirming its importance in our music calendar."
Now in its third year, Orange RockCorps has inspired and mobilised thousands of young people in the UK and abroad (France and Israel) to volunteer for local community projects in return for the exclusive concert tickets. The Orange RockCorps programme has struck a chord with volunteers in the UK and continues to be over-subscribed year-on-year.
And now everyone can get involved. Due to huge demand and feedback from current volunteers, Orange RockCorps has launched The Orange RockCorps Collective. The Collective offers young people, all over the UK, the chance to give four hours of volunteer work to their chosen charity, wherever and whenever they want, in return for exclusive incentives including festival tickets, BlackBerry handsets and other music tickets. This year will see the Collective further expand, offering more amazing incentives from its brand partners and building an all-inclusive community of volunteers around the country.
With support from partners Blackberry and Channel 4, the Orange RockCorps programme is set to broaden its reach around the UK. Channel 4 will broadcast the Orange RockCorps Manchester gig on Saturday 17 July on T4 and will film volunteer projects to expand the coverage.
Details of the Orange RockCorps London concert will be announced later in the year.

NOTES TO EDITORS
Orange RockCorps
The Orange RockCorps programme, a partnership between Orange and RockCorps, inspires young people to volunteer within their local community by producing concerts for which you can't buy a ticket. Rather, you must do 4 hours of volunteer work in a RockCorps volunteer project to earn a ticket to the gig. All volunteer projects are completed in partnership and for the benefit of local charity partners. Research has shown that over 96% of the participants would volunteer with Orange RockCorps again, and 57% would volunteer in their local community without the incentive of a ticket.
Orange RockCorps also operates the Orange RockCorps Collective a year round volunteering incentive programme that promotes volunteering throughout the UK wherever, whenever.
RockCorps
RockCorps launched in 2005 to affect social change and act as the bridge between communities in need and the young adults who want to make them better. Since that time, RockCorps has combined the power of music, community and volunteerism to expose young people to simple ways they can proactively contribute.
This is much more than a series of volunteer events and concerts; it is a way to connect young people with dynamic charities already doing great work in the local community.
