RUMOR: Dell, HTC, Motorola and Samsung confirmed to release Android 2.2 Upgrades?

While neither Google nor any ODMs have seriously confirmed any Android 2.2/Froyo updates (except from Google for its very own Nexus One which was much expectable), with today's press release, Adobe has spilled some beans which Android smartphones will - most likely - get the Froyo update. In its press release about today's Flash Player 10.1 for Mobile launch, Adobe named the Dell Streak, Google Nexus One, HTC EVO, HTC Desire, HTC Incredible, DROID by Motorola, Motorola Milestone, Samsung Galaxy S. While other devices are yet not explicitly mentioned, this is already an impressive list of smartphones which might get Google latest Android mobile OS.

As mentioned, there are yet no official information or release dates available about the expected Froyo updates for the HTC, Motorola and Samsung smartphones.

The video confirms the 8 megapixel camera, HDMI output, DROID DOES branding, 4.3″ WVGA Screen, DroidLanding Twitter account, and July release date.

But, the most curious part of the video is at the end when the 07.2010 graphic mysteriously flickers and morphs into 7.02.2010. Does this mean that the Droid X is set for release on Friday, July 2nd of 2010? Only time will tell. But, one thing’s for sure: Verizon and Moto are hyping this device up majorly.

UPDATED! Breaking: Droid 2 and Droid X will NOT Have 1.0GHz Snapdragon Processors

Monday, June 21, 2010

Sometimes a correction is needed on your initial words. Just a minor adjustment…the Droid X and Droid 2 will NOT be running 1.0GHz Snapdragon processors.

Let me just confirm that they are definitely running OMAP 1.0GHz processors. (3630 or 3640? I’m not calling that one. I’ve got 3630, but apparently only the 3640 runs easily at 1.0GHz.)

Yikes. At least our sources were about as quick as @DroidLanding to correct themselves.

Don’t hate me too much. At least laugh along with me on this one.

Everyone resume the OMAP party train again.

Motorola Expands Wireless LAN Portfolio with Innovative 802.11n WallPlate Access Point

Compact AP design installs in minutes and enables superior multi-room coverage.

ORLANDO, Fla. – HITEC 2010 (Booth #961) – The Enterprise Mobility Solutions business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced the AP 6511 802.11n WallPlate access point (AP) designed to quickly extend 802.11n wireless LAN (WLAN) services to multi-room facilities, such as hotels or hospitals. Leveraging existing infrastructure, the AP 6511 can be installed in a matter of minutes, right in the guestroom, without the time and costs associated with deploying traditional APs. Roughly the size of a deck of cards, the AP 6511 is designed to “hide-in-sight” - matching the dĆ©cor of any room while providing users a superior guest experience with high-speed mobile access for bandwidth-demanding voice, video and data applications.

Motorola’s AP 6511 uses in-wall CAT5/6 cabling, so Wi-Fi coverage can be extended without the need to pull cables or drill holes, greatly reducing time, planning and labor costs required to provide ubiquitous wireless access. A field-installable snap-on Ethernet module adds three switched fast Ethernet ports for converged guestroom IP services, such as IPTV or secure wired access. Each AP can service up to 10 rooms and leverage Motorola’s Smart RF technology to automatically tune power and channels, ensuring guests obtain maximum performance and the highest quality of service (QoS).

“Motorola created an innovative solution to help hotels provide guests with what they want – a quality ‘at-home’ experience,” said Orlando Philips, chief operating officer, Guest-Tek. “At Guest-Tek, we have seen that IP network convergence is the most cost-effective way to bring new applications, services and direct benefit to hotel guests; from interactive, high definition IPTV, free-to-guest TV and digital video-on-demand (VOD) to secure high-speed Internet and voice-over-IP telephony. The new AP 6511 is an important component to deliver this next generation hotel network. This is significant for us because customers in the hospitality industry look to Guest-Tek to help keep them ahead of trends and make the in-room guest experience the highest level.”

The AP 6511 has multiple management and service options. In smaller facilities, up to 25 WallPlates can be deployed without an external controller by using the Controller AP feature resident on the AP 6511. For larger facilities, the AP 6511 can be locally or remotely managed by Motorola’s family of RFS wireless controllers, allowing immense scalability. The solution also enables IT operations to create a single, seamless WLAN by leveraging Motorola’s broad portfolio of wireless network solutions.

“High quality wireless voice, video and data services are becoming an expected part of the guest experience, but many travelers still face challenges when accessing these services from rooms, conference spaces or outdoor facilities,” said Daran Hermans, product manager, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions. “Motorola’s innovative 802.11n WallPlate, along with its broad enterprise-class WLAN portfolio, voice-over-WLAN smartphones and ruggedized mobile computers, allow hotel operators to realize productivity enhancements and provide an extraordinary guest experience inside and outside the four walls.”

Motorola’s 802.11n WallPlate AP is powered by the Wireless Next Generation (Wi-NG) operating system, already field-proven in thousands of enterprise and government WLAN deployments across the globe. This enables integration of the AP into an adaptive, controller-based network for higher scalability, centralized management and advanced wireless services. Managed by Motorola’s RFS7000, RFS6000 or RFS4000 wireless controllers and the AirDefense Services Platform (ADSP), the innovative WallPlate APs can scale to meet the connectivity needs of any multi-room facility. As the number of guestrooms scale upward, the AP 6511 can be deployed together with Motorola’s dual-radio AP 650 or tri-radio AP 7131 APs to provide high-performance 802.11n access with integrated full-time wireless security sensing, from guest rooms to conference resources to outdoor pool and recreational facilities. Customers operating large resorts with wide area coverage needs can also deploy Motorola’s AP 7181 outdoor 802.11n mesh wide area network (MWAN) APs for seamless indoor and outdoor coverage across the entire property.

The feature-rich Motorola wireless switches, enterprise-class APs and purpose-built guest room WLAN equipment provide a seamless wireless network that can support even the most bandwidth-demanding wireless services and applications. And, the Motorola ADSP delivers holistic network management, advanced troubleshooting and network assurance services to support high QoS for superior guest experience and back-of-house workforce enablement.

The AP 6511 will be available worldwide through Motorola channel partners and Motorola sales in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Visit Motorola booth #961 at the HITEC 2010 conference on June 21-23 in Orlando, Fla. to learn more about the AP 6511 and the latest enterprise mobility solutions for the hospitality industry.

NI Technology Updates Outlooks for Apple, Google, Motorola, Broadcom and Research in Motion

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Next Inning Technology Research (http://www.nextinning.com), an online investment newsletter focused on semiconductor and technology stocks, has updated its outlooks for Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), Google (Nasdaq: GOOG), Motorola (NYSE: MOT), Broadcom (Nasdaq: BRCM) and Research in Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM).

Editor Paul McWilliams has displayed uncanny accuracy in identifying winners and losers during this challenging and historic period for the markets. After logging a very successful 2009 that included suggesting his readers buy a number of stocks that subsequently posted gains of 100% to 400%, he advised readers on May 3rd that the markets were heading for a correction. As many investors are painfully aware, McWilliams was right again.

Now that the major indexes have fallen more than the ten percent required to classify the drop as a "correction," McWilliams has outlined what he views as the real risks and advised Next Inning readers how he thinks things will play out during the balance of 2010.

Trial subscribers will receive McWilliams' new special report "Updating the Assembly, Package & Test Sector From Top to Bottom," in which McWilliams analyzes where capacity constraints are causing a bottleneck in the assembly, package and test sector and points to new opportunities to profit. In addition, trial subscribers will also receive the freshly published Summer Strategy Review, his highly acclaimed State of Tech reports that offer in-depth sector by sector coverage of over 65 leading tech companies and specific guidance on which stocks he thinks investors should own and which should be avoided. These reports, as well as McWilliams' regular commentary and detailed earnings previews, are available for free to trial subscribers.

In addition, subscribers will have access to McWilliams' daily commentary and actionable alerts. To take advantage of this offer and receive these reports for free, please visit the following link:

McWilliams covers these topics and more in his recent reports:

-- How do Apple and Google match up in the exploding smartphone space? Which stock does McWilliams have a positive stance on and which does he prefer to avoid? With Google trailing far below its 52-week high and Apple seeming to set a new high at least once per week, does McWilliams think Google offers investors a compelling value proposition?

-- Is RIM destined to fall hopelessly behind Apple and Android handsets in the smartphone space? What factors might mitigate this trend? Is this trend now fully priced in to RIM shares, limiting further downside?

-- Does McWilliams believe the forthcoming division of Motorola into two companies will be a positive event for investors?

-- Does Nokia's inability to gain traction in the smartphone space bode poorly for supplier Broadcom? Are Broadcom shares now fully priced?

Founded in September 2002, Next Inning's model portfolio has returned 244% since its inception versus 24% for the S&P 500.

Motorola and Imagine Bring Mobile WiMAX Small Business Solutions To Irish Market

WIMAX FORUM GLOBAL CONGRESS – Amsterdam – The Networks business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced it has teamed with Imagine Communication Group, Ireland’s major supplier of WiMAX services to consumers and businesses, to offer its USBw 200 mobile WiMAX USB adaptor as part of a new service from Imagine targeting home office and small businesses. The USBw 200 will be available in Ireland in August 2010.

Offering true plug & play operation, Motorola’s USBw 200 provides super-fast mobile broadband over WiMAX with improved uplink and downlink performance. Key features such as transmit switched diversity for better uploading performance and a network entry power boost for fast network entry at longer range make the USBw 200 ideal for the small office/home office (SoHo) and small to medium enterprise (SME) markets as well as consumers who prefer mobile WiMAX over other wireless services.

“With the USBw 200, we can target a new segment of SoHo and SME customers as well as consumers who prefer to use a WiMAX device in covered public areas,” said Sean Bolger, CEO of Imagine Communication Group. “This is great news for both Irish consumers and businesses that have a real choice in terms of provisioning mobile broadband technologies, as well as for Ireland, which is among the leaders in embracing mobile WiMAX technologies.”

Since an initial agreement for Motorola to provide mobile WiMAX technology for Imagine’s customers in October 2009 WiMAX services have now been deployed across Ireland’s capital Dublin and a number of regional towns and rural areas with up to 30 new locations now going live each month. WiMAX is proving to be the leading alternative access network in Ireland. This demonstrates both the evolution of the relationship and further strengthening of the business case for mobile WiMAX as a standalone technology and a complimentary service to 4G.

“This is a significant announcement for Motorola,” says Ali Amer, vice president and general manager, Motorola Networks EMEA. “It demonstrates the breadth of our mobile WiMAX capabilities and underlines the important role that mobile WiMAX will play in the roll-out of next generation mobile broadband technologies. Operators such as Imagine are demonstrating real innovation when it comes to offering high-speed, affordable mobile broadband services, and we are delighted to be able to support them with our technology and products.”

Motorola’s WiMAX USBw 200 is part of Motorola’s portfolio of broadband wireless access technologies, a comprehensive platform of wireless broadband solutions and services. Designed to complement and complete operator networks, Motorola’s solutions address a broad range of applications across operator segments from basic connections in regions with no service to high-speed, mobile access in dense metro markets. Motorola’s solutions help people access information and share content wherever they might be.

Key features of the USBw 200:

· Best-in-class radio performance

· Increased range

· Best-in-class throughput

· Indoor and outdoor coverage

· Enhanced RF performance

· Fully compatible with Windows PC

· Driver for Windows 7 / XP/ Vista included

Motorola Drives “802.16e Enhanced” Features into WiMAX Roadmap

Industry Leader to Leverage ArrayComm’s Advanced Multi-antenna Signal Processing.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Il – The Networks business of Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced its plan to support “802.16e Enhanced” features in its WiMAX product roadmap, working with ArrayComm to implement advanced baseband technology. This strategy supports an initiative launched by WiMAX industry leaders to accelerate advanced features that increase performance and capacity.

“As many WiMAX operators shift their network focus from initial deployments and coverage to optimization and capacity, there is an increased need for spectral efficiency and that’s what 802.16e Enhanced and our integration of ArrayComm technology offers,” said Fred Gabbard, vice president of Product Management, Motorola Networks. “WiMAX and OFDM technology are well-suited to address a diverse set of application demands. Advanced performance enhancements – such as beamforming and interference cancellation – allow operators to increase the number of users, data volume and peak rate supported by a given amount of radio spectrum. With these improvements, an operator can add more users and provide a better experience, making a compelling business case even more attractive.”

In support of accelerating its 802.16e Enhanced product offering, Motorola is integrating the advanced Multi-Antenna Signal processing technology (A-MASTM) from ArrayComm LLC into Motorola’s wireless broadband radio solutions. “Motorola is the leader in 4G systems deployed globally,” said Bruce Duysen, President of ArrayComm. “The combination of their best-in-class radio platforms and ArrayComm’s A-MAS delivers superior system economics to operators and best performance to end users.”

Motorola is driving its WiMAX roadmap with 802.16e Enhanced feature capabilities and benefits, including functionalities aimed at increasing coverage, reducing interference, improving single-user throughput, as well as enabling a reuse of one for WiMAX. The WiMAX Forum estimates these new features have the potential to double peak data rates and increase average and cell edge end-user performance by up to 70 percent while still remaining compliant with the 802.16e standard.

The deployment of 802.16e Enhanced will be a simple software upgrade to Motorola’s latest WiMAX solution and consistent with future network migrations. Ultimately, 802.16e Enhanced will help operators meet consumers’ demand for constant connectivity and richer personal media experiences.
