Rate Plan Options
AT&T offers several voice and data plans that can save customers money while using voice or data services in Canada.
For talkers: For $4.99 per month, the AT&T Canada plan is a great add-on for customers who anticipate frequent calls from Canada to the United States or vice versa. AT&T Canada gives customers low per-minute calling rates when calling from the United States on their mobile phones to any wireline or wireless number in Canada ($0.09 per minute), or when placing wireless calls while traveling in Canada ($0.59 per minute).
For data users: For customers who like to surf the web or check email, AT&T offers Data Global Add-Onpackages, which can save customers money on roaming and data usage in more than 90 countries, including Canada. For example, the 20 MB Data Global Add-On gives provides 20 MB of data usage for $24.99. The rate plans are available for select devices, including smartphones, quick messaging phones and touch screen phones. And for even greater flexibility, customers with Wi-Fi enabled smartphones, laptops, and other mobile devices can purchase an AT&T Wi-Fi Premier plan for only $19.99 per month, allowing wireless Internet connectivity through roaming agreements across the globe, including at more than 96 hotspots in British Columbia and 36 in the Vancouver area. International Wireless Tips
Whether traveling to Vancouver or Venezuela, if you’re leaving the United States, AT&T recommends the following tips to ensure the most optimal wireless experience while abroad:
* Verify service is available in the country you are visiting and that your phone will work. AT&T provides voice coverage in more than 215 countries and data coverage in more than 190 countries – more than any other carrier. AT&T also offers voice and data coverage on more than 130 cruise ships. Visitwww.att.com/travelguide to verify service is available as well as to determine if your wireless device has the frequency and wireless technology needed at your travel destination. A GSM quad-band phone (that works on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies) provides the widest coverage internationally. Most AT&T phones in stores today are quad-band. For travel to Japan or South Korea, your phone must operate on 3G technology at 2100 MHz; AT&T offers a good selection of these devices as well.
* Make sure international service is activated on your account. International services must be activated on your account before traveling abroad, so give AT&T a call to verify (800-331-0500).
* Consider adding an international voice or data package. AT&T offers several voice plans and data packages to make traveling with your AT&T wireless phone affordable. For example, for just $5.99 a month, you can enjoy discounted roaming rates in over 85 countries with AT&T World Traveler. AT&T also offers several data add-on packages for international use. * Know how to dial. Familiarize yourself with international dialing. From your AT&T mobile phone, you can typically hold down the “0” key until the “+” sign appears, then dial the country code and the phone number (the country code for the United States is “1”). For example, a call to the U.S. could be placed by dialing +1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx. Print the Quick Reference Guide and carry it with you.
* Know how to make an emergency call. The 911 emergency number is unique to the U.S. In many European countries, the emergency number for police, fire, or ambulance is 112. Otherwise, emergency numbers will vary by country.
* Familiarize yourself with international roaming rates. Calls placed while roaming internationally will appear on your regular wireless bill. Sometimes charges for international usage take several weeks to process and appear on your bill. * Know how to access voice mail. When roaming outside the U.S., most phones allow you to reach voice mail by holding down the 1 key. If you are unable to reach voice mail this way, dial your own wireless number (inserting a +1 before the number) and press the * key during the voice mail greeting. You will need to know your voice mail password. Calls to voice mail when roaming internationally are billed at international roaming rates.
* Keep phone turned off or in airplane mode when not in use to avoid international roaming charges. When your device is turned on, calls that you do not answer are routed to the AT&T voicemail system and charged as an international roaming incoming call to your device. However, if your device is turned off or in flight mode and the wireless network is off, when someone tries to call you the network does not try to deliver the call to you in a foreign country and instead the call will go directly to your personal voicemail greeting and there will be no international roaming charges.
* Take advantage of Wi-Fi hotspots. Wi-Fi is another way to get online from your Wi-Fi enabled smartphone, laptop or other device while traveling. When planning your trip, identify Wi-Fi hotspots along your route, or find out if your hotel and nearby locations offer Wi-Fi. For a list of locations, visit www.att.com/attwifi/locations.
* Be familiar with local laws. In some countries, using a wireless phone while driving is prohibited. Contact the local tourist information office for regulations that may apply.
* Contact International Customer Care. Contact AT&T’s specialized international help desk if you have problems or questions while roaming outside the U.S. by calling +1-916-843-4685, which is a free call from your wireless phone.

Nation with Canada:
Calls made from or received in Canada do not qualify as Mobile to Mobile Minutes.
Unused Rollover Minutes expire after the 12th billing period of the month minutes have been accumulated. Night and Weekend and Mobile to Mobile Minutes not included.
Calls made from or received in Canada cannot exceed your monthly roaming allowance (the lesser of 750 minutes per month or 40 percent of your Anytime Minutes per month) in any two consecutive months.
