Orange has teamed up with YouTube phenomenon Lauren Luke to create five ‘Make Up Look’ tutorials. To celebrate five years of the Orange Rising Star Award the videos feature red carpet make up looks from five current and previous nominees: Sienna Miller, Naomie Harris, Eva Green, Kristen Stewart and Carey Mulligan. There are five stunning make up looks for viewers to copy, from 2008 Orange Rising Star Award winner Eva Green’s statement smoky eyes to 2010 nominee Carey Mulligan’s natural English rose make up. In true Lauren Luke style, the amateur videos are shot in her bedroom and show the make up artist applying the look step by step to her own face in order for viewers to imitate her techniques.
A single mum from South Shields, Luke has rapidly become an internet sensation. Lauren is now the most subscribed YouTube member in the UK, her YouTube channel panacea81 has received more than 68 million hits from across the world. Since she began uploading her make up tutorials in 2007 Lauren has amassed a loyal following of 300,000 fans.
Lauren Luke says: “I really enjoyed re-creating these five Orange Rising Star make up looks. Each look is really different and great fun to copy, get your make up brushes at the ready and follow my tips to look like a star.”
The 2010 Orange Rising Star Award nominees are Jesse Eisenberg, Nicholas Hoult, Carey Mulligan, Tahar Rahim and Kristen Stewart. Orange’s accolade for up and coming talent is the only award at the Orange British Academy Film Awards to be voted for by the public. Voting takes place both at orange.co.uk/bafta and via text*.

Now in its fifth year, the award has set a standard for identifying talent destined for super-stardom. Previous winners include James McAvoy in 2006, Eva Green in 2007, Shia LaBeouf in 2008 and Noel Clarke in 2009. Potential Rising Stars were proposed by BAFTA members and film industry insiders to create an initial long list of names. The jury, consisting of actors, casting directors, producers, media representatives and BAFTA Film Committee members, then selected the final five nominees via a secret ballot.
Lauren Luke’s make up videos celebrate the Orange Rising Star Award’s rich five year heritage, focusing on some of the most stand-out red carpet looks from the current and past female nominees. The 2010 Orange Rising Star Winner will be unveiled on Sunday 21 February 2010 at the Orange British Academy Film Awards.
