SANTA ANA, Calif. -- SRS Labs (Nasdaq: SRSL), the industry leader in surround sound, audio, and voice technologies, announced today that 30-million SRS TruVolume-equipped consumer electronic (CE) devices have been deployed worldwide within more than 3,500 specific product models, which translates to over 50 times more models utilizing SRS TruVolume than its nearest competitor.
"SRS TruVolume is unquestionably the premier audio leveling solution on the market," said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing for SRS Labs. "With TruVolume, there are no extra settings to configure or extra efforts needed to navigate through cumbersome menus just to make sure the feature works correctly. No matter the device, when TruVolume is turned on, all of those pesky volume fluctuations associated with watching TV are eliminated immediately. With more than 30-million products featuring TruVolume in homes, we are clearly in the lead and the strength of our position grows daily."
SRS TruVolume is available in more than 3,500 individual CE products, and is best known for its penetration within the HDTV market, in which it holds a majority market share of more than 22-percent. Leading consumer manufacturers, such as Samsung and VIZIO now feature SRS TruVolume within a vast majority of their respective HDTV models. According to industry sources, the next closest volume-leveling competitor is available in only 62 individual CE product models.
Meanwhile, TruVolume has also made significant headway within the expanding soundbar market. Available in all VIZIO soundbar models, TruVolume has a commanding lead in the sound bar market considering VIZIO's dominant market share, which exceeds the 50-percent mark in soundbars. SRS TruVolume is also deployed in automotive and mobile products and is now available as a standalone hardware adaptor, called MyVolume. The MyVolume Adaptor brings the power of TruVolume to pre-existing TV models that originally shipped without the solution pre-installed.
In a recent MarketTools third party survey, nine out of 10 TV viewers in North America had noticed volume fluctuations when watching television and 89 percent of them indicated that they find the volume fluctuations annoying. Several other recent studies have confirmed that annoying volume fluctuations are universally noticed and disdained by TV viewers worldwide. In addition, the U.S. Senate is currently considering legislation known as the C.A.L.M. Act, which is designed to help establish universal volume level standards for U.S. broadcast and cable companies, and will in turn be enforced by the FCC. While the end result is believed to be a more consistent audio experience on a single channel or network, the act is unable to control the oft-violent volume spikes as experienced while switching from channel to channel for example, which is where SRS TruVolume is critical.
SRS TruVolume utilizes advanced, patent pending technology proprietary to SRS Labs to provide listeners with a consistently comfortable volume level, thus enabling a more enjoyable entertainment experience. TruVolume incorporates advanced multi-band analysis that simulates how people perceive volume shifts, as well as discrimination technology that identifies appropriate points for action. As a result, TruVolume eliminates annoying side effects that plagued previous volume leveling solutions, operating unobtrusively and effectively. Listeners simply set the volume to their preferred listening level, sit back and relax.
