LGE will launch its Android 1.5-based GW620 smartphone in the local market in the second quarter and may also bring in Android 2.0-based GT540 later in the quarter. The GT540 is scheduled to launch globally in April, LGE Taiwan noted.
According to previous reports, LGE plans to roll out more than 20 smartphones in 2010, with Android-based models accounting for 50% of smartphone offerings.
LGE also revealed that sales of its second-generation Chocolate-series BL40 and BL20 handsets in the Taiwan market have reached over 8,000 units since the two models were launched in early December 2009. Sales of the company's Lollipop GD580 3G handsets have surpassed 10,000 units following its launch in late December.
