Android-platform handsets available for sale in the Taiwan market are on the rise, with the proportion of Android phones to all smartphones expected to increase from 10% at the end of 2009 to 20% by the end of 2010, according to sources at retail channels in Taiwan.

New Android phones to hit the local market in April include the Galaxy Spica i5700 from Samsung Electronics, the XT791 from Motorola and the HTC Legend and HTC Desire from HTC (High Tech Computer), the sources noted.

HTC's share in terms of unit sales hit a record high of 3.1% in the Taiwan market in February 2009, according to data compiled by the channels.
