Acer beTouch E400 Android phone priced and dated! Tweet

The Acer beTouch E400 Android phone we checked out at Mobile World Congress in February has just popped up for pre-order here in Blighty. Want to know when you’ll be able to bag the slim Google blower, and for just how much? Read on and we’ll tell all.

The Acer beTouch E400 Android 2.1 phone has just sprung up on Expansys for pre-order. Like the Acer Liquid before it, it’s a SIM-free affair, and will set you back £264.99. Unlike the powerhouse Liquid however, it’s a decidedly mid-range model: it’s packing a much slower 600MHz CPU, and a smaller, lower resolution resistive 320×480 3.2-inch touchscreen. The camera’s also been downgraded, to 3.2 megapixels.

The Acer beTouch E400 should still be worth a second look though, as it’s much slimmer (12mm) and has a smooth shell that’s more attractive than the chunky, rounded Liquid. Whether Acer has fixed the keyboard that blighted the experience for us back at Barcelona is unclear however, but we’re rummaging for a second hands on so we’ll keep you posted on that front.

Expansys has also popped up the cheaper E110 phone for pre-order alongside the Acer beTouch E400. It’ll cost £159.99 SIM-free, and packs a 2.8-inch resistive screen. It’s very similar to the T-Mobile Pulse Mini, but also boasts GPS, if an older version of Android, 1.5. It’ll be out two days earlier on the 17th, so if you’re itching for a cheap Android smartphone, you’ll be able to nab one in under a fortnight.
