PayPal’s Mobile Payments Library Now Available for Android at Google I/O #io2010

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Hi all – it’s Osama Bedier here, PayPal’s VP of platform, mobile and new ventures, with good news for our Android developers.

We know you want a quick and easy way to integrate payments into the Android apps you’re building, and we’re pleased to announce that our Mobile Payments Library is now available for the Android.

The Mobile Payments Library allows you to add checkout functionality for donations, personal payments, physical goods and services sold through apps on the Android phone without having to worry about keeping customers’ personal financial information secure. We recently announced the open beta of our Mobile Payments Library for the iPhone and the developer community is already putting it to good use. Download it today from http://www.x.com, get creative and then be sure to tell us about it!

Another developer solution we’re introducing today is the PayPal X Toolkit for Google App Engine (GAE), which is a platform for developing and running Web applications and services on Google Cloud. This toolkit helps our developers easily and securely incorporate payments in their applications and services built on GAE platform. With this toolkit, split payments (Parallel and Chained) can be processed, enabling a whole slew of new use cases around marketplaces, revenue sharing, affiliate fees, funding/financing, digital goods, micropayments, etc. To learn more about the PayPal X Toolkit for Google App Engine and other toolkits for other Cloud platform, check out our CloudComputing XSpace on our Developer portal.

If you’ll be at Google I/O in San Francisco this week, stop by the PayPal station located in the Android Pod of the Developer Sandbox to see the full demo of both the Mobile Payments Library for Android and our new Toolkit for Google App Engine.
