The Wave S8500 is a landmark handset for the Samsung for more reason than one – not only is it the first handset to run the Samsung’s new proprietary Bada operating system, the Wave is also the first handset to come from the Korean manufacturer with new Super-AMOLED screen technology.
Users can comfortably view the 3.3” colourful screen even in bright sunlight conditions, with minimal glare and from acute angles and also at lower power consumption rates, making the Wave the perfect handset for the summer months where you’re more likely to stay out and about.
The Wave also boasts some top-line specs with a 1Ghz processor, 5 mega-pixel camera (with flash), high definition video recording capabilities, WiFi support and a handy 3.5mm jack.
It’s interesting to note that the Samsung Wave deals available show both Orange and Vodafone contracts available, with only the latter revealing their intentions to range the handset a couple of days ago.
Pay monthly deals start from a surprisingly affordable tenner a month, with free handset deals kicking in at £20 per month for 200 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet.
It looks like the bada platform will indeed be the beginning of the smartphone democracy that Samsung pledged at MWC…
