Extends Lead in Cloud Computing and Gaming Arenas with Industry-changing
Eee Pad, Eee Tablet, Garmin-Asus A10 Smartphone and a Host of ROG Innovations.

ASUS’ leadership in innovation and design will once again be underlined at this year’s Computex exhibition in Taipei, where the homegrown IT giant is set to showcase a wide range of products across five major categories: cloud computing, gaming, enthusiast PC components, multimedia and green computing.

ASUS Cloud Computing Solutions: Accessing Data Anywhere and in Real Time has Never Been this Easy
As the leader in cloud computing, ASUS offers the broadest spread of cloud-connected devices with on-the-fly data and multimedia sharing capabilities that consumers need in this age of interconnectedness.

Without question the foremost cloud computing device that will be on show at Computex 2010 is the ASUS Eee Tablet, one of the world’s most accurate and sensitive digital note-taking devices. Sporting a 2450 dpi resolution touch screen, a built-in camera which takes high resolution photos that users can write notes on, and preinstalled with an assortment of notepad templates, the Eee Tablet provides students and mobile business professionals with everything they need to get through a day. The Eee Tablet also serves as an exceptionally competent e-reader, offering almost lag-free page turns and a paper-like display that allows users to read for long periods without eye fatigue. The Eee Tablet features USB and MicroSD connectivity for easy syncing with a PC.

Also set to steal the limelight is the ASUS Eee Pad, an ultra-slim and light yet high-performance slate device designed to provide users with a “real time, real life and real human” cloud computing experience. The Eee Pad is available in two configurations. The 12” Eee Pad EP121 is a full-featured slate computer that serves as a multimedia player, e-reader, compact PC and Internet device. Powered by a CULV Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor and the Windows® 7 Home Premium operating system, it handles multitasking effortlessly, enabling users to check their email and calendars, have video conferences, and process Microsoft Word and Excel documents simultaneously. The Eee Pad EP121 offers two convenient modes of character input—an embedded virtual keyboard and a special docking station-cum-keyboard—and delivers more than 10 hours of smooth, continuous computing. Users seeking added mobility can consider the 10’’ Eee Pad EP101TC, which comes in at a mere 675g and a slim, pocket-friendly 12.2mm. The Eee Pad EP101TC runs on Windows Embedded Compact 7, a complete toolkit with the latest Windows 7-based technologies and tools that create engaging user experiences and delivers connectivity to the Windows world. It integrates Google™ Mobile Services with one-click access to Google Maps™, Gmail™, YouTube™, calendar, contacts and Android Market™, where users can find more than 30,000 applications to personalize their phone.

ASUS will also be displaying its fourth generation of Eee PCs™ at Computex, namely the 1018, 1016, and the classic Seashell 1015. These netbooks sport distinctive designs and materials—such as aluminum for the 1018 and a soft-to-the-touch matte surface for the 1015—that perfectly suit the lifestyles of their target users.

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG): The Leading Choice of Champions
Committed to a wide panorama of hardcore gaming, ASUS ROG products have been the choice of gaming champions since the brand’s inception in 2006. The new ROG CG8490 gaming station is the latest and greatest gaming rig to enter into the fray, with an all-new Intel® Core™ i7-980X six-core CPU, 12GB of DDR3 memory and dual Radeon HD5870 graphics cards powering superlative DX11 graphics across three-display Eyefinity. For added punch, the CG8490 is optimized to overclock over 20 percent beyond reference*. Other ROG products slated for exhibition include the 15.6” G53 notebook which has full support for 3D gaming and the new HDMI 1.4 revision, a concept-stage super-motherboard dubbed Immensity that is the first motherboard in the world to pair an onboard GPU with Lucid—a technology that makes it possible to bridge at least two graphics cards regardless of chipset or vendor—and ARES, one of the world’s most powerful desktop graphics cards, with total gaming muscle in the form of twin Radeon 5870 cores, 4GB GDDR5 and massive cooling.

Elevating Motherboards and Graphics Cards beyond the Norm with Exclusive Innovations
ASUS will be demonstrating its latest performance and efficiency-enhancing motherboard technologies—Turbo Unlocker and Dual Intelligent Processors—on the Computex show floor. Turbo Unlocker optimizes the CPU ratios of the latest Unlocked Intel® Core™ and AMD Black Edition processors, and boosts performance whenever added workload handling is needed for better multitasking media-intensive tasks. Dual Intelligent Processors, on the other hand, leverages ASUS’ exclusive TPU (TurboV Processing Unit) and EPU (Energy Processing Unit) in a dual-processing architecture that eases system loads while maximizing power efficiency across the board.

Not content with trailblazing in motherboards, ASUS’ value-added innovations also extend to graphics cards. The new ENGTX400 series graphics cards from ASUS, which are based on NVIDIA’s GeForce 400 series technology—formerly known as Fermi—will be showcased during Computex as well. The ample power of these DX11 cards is harnessed to its full potential—and beyond—by exclusive ASUS technologies such as Voltage Tweak that speeds up the GPU by as much as 50%, and Splendid HD that intelligently improves the color accuracy, contrast ratio and sharpness of images.

Taking Entertainment into a New Dimension with 3D and Multimedia Products
ASUS has developed a diverse range of multimedia products with the goal of taking the complexity out of digital media consumption—making it as readily accessible, user-friendly and pleasurable as possible. The latest and finest of these are now on show at Computex 2010. The ASUS EeeTop PC ET 24'' is a svelte all-in-one desktop PC and home theater replacement with USB 3.0 connectivity and 3D capabilities** that features ASUS SonicMaster technology for vastly improved sound reproduction. Also capable of delivering instant 3D gratification is the ASUS BW-12B1LT—the world’s fastest 12X Blu-ray writer—which instantly converts 2D 720p movies to 3D with just one click. Compelling 3D images from the BW-12B1LT are best viewed on the ASUS VG236H 3D LCD monitor which boasts a 120Hz double-speed, 2ms refresh rate. Making its debut as well is the pocket-sized ASUS Eee Media player, which offers the easiest way for users to search for, download and view multimedia on big screen TVs. It features full web browsing and peer-to-peer capabilities, and consumes very little power (below 10W with the hard disk drive plugged in), making it ideal for downloading large media files.

Enabling a Greener Life with ASUS Eco-products
Consumers aspiring to lead green lifestyles will find it easier than ever with ASUS U Series Bamboo Collection notebooks and Designo Series LED monitors. The new bamboo notebooks feature smoky brown bamboo exteriors, making users feel closer to nature while reducing plastics use. The bamboo elements juxtapose with brushed aluminum surfaces, forming a cohesive design that is both elegant and light.

ASUS understands that when it comes to power, less is more. As such, it is phasing in mercury-free LED technology into its monitor and notebook product lines. With a full line-up ranging from 20 to 24 inches, ASUS’ ultra-slim Designo Series LED monitors use up to 45 percent less power than LCD monitors—equating to 37.2kWh and 23.6kg of CO2 annually.

As part of its commitment to the environment, ASUS has also developed SEA (Smart Energy in Action), a green solution that enables users to easily measure, monitor and analyze their energy consumption at home. ASUS SEA automatically uploads the collected data to a website, where users can study them in detail and trade tips on how to lower their energy use. And since the data is hosted on the cloud, users will be able to access the information wherever they are.

ASUS and Lamborghini Create New Legends
ASUS and supercar manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini have partnered once again, and the fruits of their labor—the ASUS-LAMBORGHINI VX7 and ASUS-LAMBORGHINI VX6—will be making their roaring debut at Computex. The ASUS ROG leadership role in gaming has been established through close contact with gamers around the world, with team members themselves enthusiasts. This has made bringing the finest products to market intuitive, resulting in great success.

Built to Dominate the Battlefield—CG8490 Desktop
Committed to a wide panorama of hardcore gaming, ASUS ROG motherboards and graphics cards have been the choice of gaming champions since the brand’s inception in 2006. Now ASUS brings users the ultimate gaming station to combine a tradition of winning performance with uncompromising reliability. The new ROG CG8490 unleashes over 20% balanced overclocking capability* compared to reference on absolute high-end components optimized to perfection – the all new for 2010 Intel Core i7-980X six-core CPU starts proceedings, followed by a massive 12GB of fast DDR3 memory, while the dual overclocked Radeon HD5870 graphics cards not only immerse your gaming reality in three-display Eyefinity, but also do DX11 visuals justice. The unique design draws inspiration from ancient and modern armor of both Eastern and Western cultures, built tough to withstand punishment and resist degradation, while the leading-edge thermal design with multiple oversized fans banishes heat quick and gives the system superior stability.

This desktop provides reminders of how good full-on desktop gaming can be.

Notably Superior Gaming—G51 3D, G53 and G73 Notebooks
The ROG approach has led to gaming notebooks with unrelenting performance. The brand new 15.6” G53 has full support for 3D gaming and the new HDMI 1.4 revision, resulting in spectacular action. G53 is also the world’s first 15” gaming notebook with NVIDIA’s 3D Vision-enabled next generation GPU.

The distinctive F117 stealth bomber design is inherited from the G73Jh, and also deploys aggressive cooling and an illuminated keyboard to ensure prolonged gaming enjoyment.

The new 17.3” G73Jw model features the worldwide premiere of NVIDIA’s new generation mobile GPU platform on a 1080p 3D-ready notebook, adding full 3D support and sheer graphics muscle to the popular king of notebook gaming, the G73 range. The new G73Jw also packs NVIDIA’s next generation GPU for smooth, realistic three dimensional gaming action.

For true aficionados, these are the ultimate extreme performance portable gaming choice.

Immensity Shows ROG Leadership—Lucid and onboard GPU
ASUS ROG leads the market for both Intel and AMD gamers with motherboard solutions that bring out the best in hardcore performance. New super-motherboard Immensity, now still in the concept stage and to be shown at Computex, will display Lucid’s Hydra technology. This makes it the first motherboard in the world to feature this technology alongside an onboard GPU, enabling at least two graphics cards regardless of chipset or vendor to bridge and work together for the unequalled performance and flexibility coveted by serious users.

The Rampage III Extreme features Intel’s X58/ICH10R chipset, plus exclusive overclocking tools such as ROG Connect, OC Kit, RC Bluetooth and now all-new iPhone-based overclocking control. These have made it an official benchmarking record breaker, while the Extreme Engine Digi+ thermal design ensures stability even under extreme stress, so overclocking can be done safely.

Likewise, the Crosshair IV Formula brings gratuitous gaming and tuning enjoyment to AMD builds, including the world’s first dual-channel 2000MHz DDR3 for AMD, adding the benefit of Core Unlocker to the mix – users can tap hidden cores on new AMD CPUs. Turbo Key II makes for complete overclocking control, while GameFirst guarantees better performance in online gaming.

Unstoppable Graphics—MATRIX5870 and ARES cards
On the path to photorealistic immersion, ASUS ROG shows the way with better implementation of graphics card technology. The MATRIX5870 takes AMD’s design and bolsters it with added features such as iTracker 2, ProbeIt and the Super Hybrid Engine, garnering superlative overclocking potential balanced with excellent power efficiency.

The gargantuan ARES super-card comes in as one of the world’s most powerful desktop graphics card solutions, with total gaming muscle in the form of twin Radeon 5870 cores, 4GB GDDR5 and massive cooling.

Both of these powerhouses enable complete gaming and overclocking freedom, coupled with native DX11 support and the unique ROG flair for design.

ASUS and MSI will let out [kh]86 plane-tables under the pressure Of intel and Microsoft?

Thursday, May 27, 2010

The Taiwan producers of computer technology ASUS and MSI undergo pressure from the side of the corporations Of intel and Microsoft, reports the resource Of digiTimes. The latter force producers to move the products, built on the basis of the architecture of [kh]86 despite the fact that both companies already made a decision about the reorientation to the devices on the basis of the platform NVIDIA Of tegra and with the operating system Of google Of android. As a result before the exhibition Of computex, which takes place in the beginning of June as the main things were acknowledged model on the basis of the processors Of intel (predominantly series Of atom), also, with OS Windows. The solutions on the basis of ARM- processors will be also demonstrated on this exhibition, but they proved to be moved aside to the second plan.

There is no single-valued answer to a question, as precisely Intel and Microsoft attained a change in the attitude of producers toward ARM to products. It is assumed that Intel could threaten with a change in the price policy, especially as relatively recently it communicated about the suspicion of this company of the attachment of the transactions, which make with unfavorable for its partners the use of equipment of that produced by the third companies. Microsoft has less durable positions and cannot directly influence producers “gland”, but as the most important supplier of software for the Taiwan companies (and not only); also it must have its levers of pressure.

Something similar could be observed, also, in the attitude of the company Of hewlett-Packard. Immediately by it the producer of [smartfonov] Of palm it communicated after purchase that for the change announced at the beginning of 2010 HP Of slate with OS Windows will be advanced the plane-table with OS of webOS and respectively by ARM- processor. Later this communication was it is disproved and now indicated that [planshetnik] HP will be represented by autumn and this there will be model on the platform Of intel and with the operating system from Microsoft.

Asus EEE PC 1215N – top choice with dual core Atom, Ion and Optimus

Saturday, May 15, 2010

These days, Asus has tens of different netbooks on the market. And even in the 12 inch class you get quite a couple of them (your fingers are just barely enough to get them all, but shouldn’t be for long). However, there are two versions emerging from the crowd. One is this one we’re going to talk about in here, the Asus EEE PC 1215N and the other is the stylish Asus EEE PC 1218 we wrote about earlier.

Now, the Asus 1215N wasn’t officially launched. In fact, it was not even officially launched either, but that should happen pretty soon, probably on may 13th. Rumors about it surfaced a couple of days ago, when people start grumbling about the fact that the much awaited Asus 1201PN had no Optimus. Thus, Asus quickly launched some details about this other model, the 1215N, which has very good chances for the king title in the 12 inch netbooks class.

It is expected to have a new dual core Atom on board, but a new generation one built on the PineTrail platform, one that has yet to be officially launched by Intel either, but should run at 1.5 GHz and should be available from June. This CPU will be paired with the 16 cores new generation Nvidia ION for extensive graphic capabilities (will run 1080p content easily and even some modern games).

Plus, it will get Optimus, a system specially designed by Nvidia to intelligently and seamlessly change between the two graphic options present on the device (integrated GMA 3150 on the CPU And dedicated Nvidia G218 used by the ION Chip). This translates in more efficient battery usage and in the end, better autonomy.

That’s about all we know for now. The device should be available from July and will probably cost around 550-600 bucks. So stay tuned, we’ll post more info on it in the following days.

Asustek Eee Pad to hit channel in July

Saturday, April 24, 2010

Asustek Computer chairman Jerry Shen has announced, at a conference in Taiwan, that the company will introduce its tablet PC, the Eee Pad, at Computex 2010, scheduled between June 1-5, and is aiming to launch the device in retail channels in the third quarter of 2010, which sources from component makers revealed will be late July.

To compete against Apple's iPad, Asustek has strengthened the Eee Pad's industrial design and has cooperated with Google to adopt its Android platform. Asustek will also add features that iPad currently does not support such as USB, integrated webcam, and Adobe Flash, Shih noted.

As for the impact of tablet PC, Shih expects the device reduce overall netbook demand by 10-20%. The company is also monitoring the tablet PC and e-book reader markets closely to prevent related products stepping into each other's demand and will maintain flexibility to launch products that suit the fast-changing market demand.

The sources estimated that Asustek's Tegra-based Eee Pad will be priced at NT$15,000-16,000 (US$479-510) after bundling with telecom carrier services, and total shipments will reach 300,000 units in 2010.

In additional news, Micro-Star International (MSI) is also ready to launch its tablet PC, the M Pad, in the third quarter of 2010, but is conservative about initial shipments to prevent inventory buildup. MSI's current strategy is to observe Asustek's Eee Pad sales performance before deciding the strength of its shipments and marketing push.

Company NVIDIA today presented its new technology NVIDIA Of optimus, intended for the laptop computers, which selects the best graphic processor for the current application and automatically shifts load either on discrete GPU NVIDIA or on the integrated drawing, guaranteeing high productivity with the maximum operating time against the battery.

Company presents the sense of this technology in the following key: “Just as hybrid machines select between the benzine and electric motor, the technology NVIDIA Of optimus selects between the graphic processors”. The technology NVIDIA Of optimus instantly transfers load on the optimum processor, increasing the operating time from the battery to two times (for example R840 it consumes approximately 8 W in the mode of standby + FB - 9.6 W, only 17.6 W. Optimus CULV+GT215 consumes only 8 W, it is disconnected generally with this GT215. 8 W in the comparison with 17.6 W - this the savings of energy is more than 2 times in comparison with the similar systems with one discrete GPU). For 3d games, video and calculations on GPU is used highly productive discrete processor NVIDIA. For the base applications, such as the survey of Internet- pages or mail, is used the integrated drawing. Result - long time of work from the battery without the damage to the productivity of device.

ASUS is intended to become “another Of apple”?

Company ASUS did not represent on the exhibition CES of 2010 large spectra of interesting goods, but is caused this not by the decline of company, but by her work on promising projects. According to the chairman of the administration Of aSUSTek John [Shikh] (Jonney Of shih), the company is intended to become “another Of apple”, but in contrast to the afore-mentioned it will study use in its developments of the open platforms of those combining the solutions on the basis of production ARM and Google or Microsoft and Intel - option will remain after the user. Furthermore, Mr. [Shikh] promised that in June month ASUS he will present “killing product”.

Unfortunately, no refinements apropos of the fact however, that this “killing” product did not follow. It is known that on June 1 will occur the official department of production part ASUS - company Of pegatron, and since June 24 Brenda ASUS Pegatron will be indicated in parallel. Will this separation influence the production “killing” device not clearly. Most logical would be the assumption that discussion centered on [planshetnike] of a series Of eee PC, which can be built on the basis of the platform NVIDIA Of tegra 2. it is said precisely under the brand Of pegatron at the end of June it must be represented certain product. Although in this case there is no unanimous opinion, with which the discussion deals, it is indicated that the device will be placed in the price category of less than 500 dollars.
