Motorola Showcases Integrated Voice and Data Communication Solutions at VoiceCon® Orlando 2010

Seamless Communications Among Mobile Work Teams Using Different Devices Help Transform Operations with Faster Responses, Better Decisions and Higher Productivity.

ORLANDO, Fla. – VOICECON® (Booth #1201) – The Enterprise Mobility Solutions business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) will be demonstrating its latest integrated voice and data communication solutions, including the award-wining Total Enterprise Access and Mobility (TEAM) portfolio, Motorola AirDefense network assurance and management solutions, business-critical two-way radios and mobile computers, during the VoiceCon® Orlando 2010 Conference and Exhibition.

Recently recognized with the 2010 iF Product Design Award and the 2009 Internet Telephony Product of the Year Award, Motorola’s TEAM Voice-over-WLAN (VoWLAN) solution takes VoWLAN beyond voice with mobile email, calendar/contact sync, text messaging, Internet/intranet access and the flexibility of Windows Mobile® for line-of-business applications. In addition to offering toll-quality telephony services integrated with the PBX and enterprise-grade push-to-talk (PTT), the TEAM solution can also interoperate with existing two-way radio systems. Following best practices in networking, the TEAM solution can be easily integrated into existing wireless LAN (WLAN) and PBX infrastructure, creating a single common platform for the delivery of integrated voice and data services in healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing or retail environments.

“There are three guiding principles behind TEAM. First, provide workforce access to the right information at the right time. Second, equip them with the right device, and third, enable them to talk to customers or with each other regardless of the device they are using,” said Imran Akbar, vice president and general manager for Converged Enterprise Communications, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions. “TEAM solutions, combined with the industry’s broadest end-to-end portfolio of mobile devices and wireless networks, improve customer responsiveness, worker productivity and capital efficiency.”

At VoiceCon Orlando 2010, Motorola will showcase the TEAM VoWLAN solution and also demonstrate the recently announced TEAM Radio Link Solution (RLS) and TEAM Radio Link Solution Express (RLS Express). Building on Motorola’s expertise in reliable PTT technologies, these easy-to-deploy solutions enable enterprises with business-critical two-way radio systems to enhance their communications capabilities with PTT interoperability. TEAM RLS provides unmatched PTT interoperability between TEAM VoWLAN smartphones, TEAM badges or mobile computers equipped with TEAM Express voice clients, and two-way radios. The TEAM RLS Express is a standalone version of TEAM RLS, ideal for organizations that do not require full VoWLAN and telephony integration, providing basic group PTT between TEAM Express-enabled devices and two-way radios.

Motorola will also preview the new EWP3100 device, a TEAM VoWLAN smartphone with an imager that can read 1D/2D bar codes and take pictures. Expected to be available in early third quarter of 2010, this semi-rugged device extends the capabilities and use cases for the TEAM VoWLAN solution. EWP3100 also features a wipe-able keypad and BioCote® surface protection. It opens a new world of opportunity to organizations looking for enterprise-class integrated voice and data communications coupled with world-class data capture solutions.

Finally, during VoiceCon Orlando 2010 Motorola will demonstrate AirDefense Network Assurance – the industry’s leading solution to optimize WLAN performance, ensure network reliability and provide remote troubleshooting and monitoring.

Sony Ericsson creates a ‘make.believe’ moment as singer Jay Sean and Spice Girl Mel B, battle it out in an exhibition tennis match; ‘Glam.Set.Match’ to celebrate the opening of the 2010 Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

Miami FL, United States – March 23, 2010 – To celebrate the start of the 2010 Sony Ericsson Open; stars from the entertainment world unveiled their tennis talent with two of the world’s top class tennis players in an exclusive mixed doubles showdown.

Spice Girl and TV personality Mel B paired up with male tennis star; Novak Djokovic, to battle it out against Cash Money/Universal Republic recording artist; Jay Sean and female tennis ace; Ana Ivanovic, in front of a live crowd at the home of the Sony Ericsson Open; Crandon Park.

Bringing comedy to the proceedings was Miami funnyman, Benji B, who took to the umpire’s chair as an NFL referee, giving directions as if it was an American football match! Twinned with Real Housewives of New York, reality show star; Kelly Killoren Bensimon who gave a running commentary of the match as the MC.

The high-adrenaline match was hotly contested from start to finish with Mel B and Jay Sean keeping the crowd engaged. But Jay Sean and Ana Ivanovic snuck through to win in the closing minutes and claim the ‘Glam, Set, Match’ title.

Mel B commented; “Playing in this match was an amazing experience, as not only am I really competitive when it comes to sport, but I had the chance to play with Novak, who is undoubtedly one of the best players around right now! I love the glamour and buzz of Miami so being here and playing tennis in front of this fantastic audience was just great!”

Jay Sean added; “I couldn’t have asked for a better partner than Ana – we gave it as good as we got and hit some impressive shots at Mel and Novak. It was a real rush to go out onto that court and play against one of the top players in the world. In fact, it was such fun that I think I will pick up a tennis racket more often!

Ana Ivanovic (Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles ranking 58) said: “Sony Ericsson always come up with such imaginative ideas to promote the tournament here in Miami and it was a lot of fun taking part in this event. Miami is an exciting tournament, with lots going on both on and off the court, and I think that both the fans and players really appreciate that.”

Novak Djokovic (ATP singles ranking 2) commented: “I found it very exciting to play with Mel B and Jay Sean, and I think tennis needs more of these exhibition matches that bring celebrities to our sport. It makes us happy and them too. Sony Ericsson provided an opportunity for the public to see and interact with celebrities and players in a relaxed and fun exhibition match.

Aldo Liguori, CVP and head of global communications and PR said, “With Glam.Set.Match we have created a truly ‘make.believe’ moment for fans – a unique spectacle that shows how we can make the unexpected happen. This high energy stunt is also a fantastic example of how we are opening up the game to new audiences, bringing glamour and excitement to the sport and energising the overall fan experience of the Sony Ericsson Open."

After a fantastic 2009 tournament which saw both Andy Murray (ATP singles ranking 4) and Victoria Azarenka (Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles ranking 6) triumph; 2010 is set to be another spectacular event with both of the 2009 champions keen to defend their titles. ‘Glam.Set.Match’ sees the Sony Ericsson carry on its tradition of opening tournaments with dazzling and spectacular stunts – a tradition that began with ‘Night Tennis’ in 2007, where Sony Ericsson combined an ‘ultra-violet’ tennis tournament, the world’s best DJs and a “neon” fashion show. Last year, Sony Ericsson stopped traffic on Miami’s busiest street; Ocean Drive and put Andy Murray and Venus Williams (Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles ranking 5) on top of two cars, to play ‘Traffic Tennis’.

The 2010 Sony Ericsson Open will take place from March 22 – April 4 at the Tennis Center, Crandon Park, Key Biscayne, Miami. It features the world’s top men and women tennis players, battling for a total prize fund of US$9 million. Sony Ericsson is the title sponsor of the Sony Ericsson Open; the unofficial, fifth grand slam. The sponsorship has enabled Sony Ericsson to engage with consumers in countries across the world and take tennis beyond the boundaries of the court, inspiring new audiences and bringing glamour and style to the sport. In March 2010, the WTA Tour and Sony Ericsson announced a two year extension to their existing partnership that will see Sony Ericsson become the lead global sponsor for the Tour through to the end of 2012.

Nokia honors consumer innovation at CTIA

Announcing the PUSH N900 MOD IN THE USA winner.

Las Vegas, NV, USA- Continuing a rich history of fostering innovation, Nokia is proud to announce the winning team of the PUSH N900 MOD IN THE USA competition - BrettSarahTops - for their work turning the Nokia N900 into a car-like dashboard showcasing odometer, speedometer and more. The competition, which began in January, pushed the capabilities for the Nokia N900 both from a hardware and software prospective; further showing that the Nokia N900 is one of the most advanced mobile computer currently available.

"Seeing what these teams were able to create using the Nokia N900 in just a few weeks time is a true testament to the spirit of human innovation," said Eddie Hold, Vice President, Current Analysis. "It's refreshing to see what people can come up with when they are supplied with tools like a open platform - such as the one that the Nokia N900 operates on. Kudos to Nokia and the participants for cultivating this kind of consumer innovation."

The three finalists of the PUSH N900 MOD IN THE USA competition were each flown to CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas, where they presented their ideas to a panel of judges. Each presenter was given 15 minutes to discuss their inspiration and why they deserve the grand prize. After a very intense deliberation, the judges decided that Bike Dashboard earned the grand prize based on inventiveness, feasibility, conversation generation and demonstration of the Nokia N900's capabilities. As the grand prize winner, BrettSarahTops will receive a USD 10,000 prize.

"We're extremely excited to have won this competition! To think that just a few weeks ago we were brainstorming an idea to submit and now we're here in Las Vegas with that idea a reality is truly amazing," said Brett Peterson, a member of BrettSarahTops. "It's really cool that Nokia put together a competition that encouraged us to develop something we thought would be an awesome spin on their existing innovations."

BrettSarahTops utilized several different features of the Nokia N900 to create a Bike Dashboard. From the GPS to the camera, the team transformed the Nokia N900 into a car-like dashboard. The screen of the Nokia N900 showed a speedometer, odometer, mapped routes with GPS and even provided a car horn - becoming the killer app for cyclists everywhere.

While BrettSarahTops took home first place, the fact that both Niko and Pit Crew had very creative and innovative mods made it a difficult decision for the judges. For both team's hard work creating their respective mods, they'll also be taking home prizes. Niko placed second and will receive a prize of USD 5,000 while Pit Crew will receive USD 3,000 for placing third.

The Nokia N900 has broadened the choice for technology enthusiasts who appreciate the ability to multitask and browse the internet like they would on their desktop computer. Running on the new Maemo 5 software, the Nokia N900 empowers users to have dozens of application windows open and running simultaneously while taking full advantage of the cellular features, touch screen and QWERTY keyboard. The Nokia N900 also packs a powerful ARM Cortex-A8 processor, up to 1GB of application memory and OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration as well as 32GB of storage space, a 5MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, high resolution WVGA touch screen, HSPA, WLAN and much, much more.

The global PUSH N900 competition held in October 2009 drew hundreds of entries and resulted in the construction of five widely varying mods. With finalists from both global and USA-focused competitions coming up with ideas that span a broad spectrum - from transforming the N900 into spray-can that emits light graffiti to the brains of a robot, as well as other very, very creative ideas - the capability of a truly open device such as the Nokia N900 has been a great source for innovation and creativity.
