Most Reliable Wireless Network Just Got Better In Stark County, Ohio Tweet

Integration of Verizon Wireless’ and Alltel’s Networks Delivers Increased Wireless Voice and Data Coverage to the Area.

CANTON, OHIO — Verizon Wireless announced it has completed the integration of its network with that of Alltel in Stark County to provide customers with clearer reception, fewer dropped calls and more coverage, including stronger in-building coverage.

Verizon Wireless’ voice and high-speed 3G data network combined with that of Alltel creates the largest wireless network footprint in the United States. The integration in this area enables more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones on the nation’s most reliable wireless network.

Coverage areas directly affected by the network integration include Alliance, Atwood Lake, Canton, Cairo, Harrisburg, Navarre, North Canton, Paris, Robertsville and Waynesburg.

The contest, which required high school seniors to submit an essay of no more than 500 words on the topic of how wireless technology has changed the world in which we live, provides the winners with college scholarship money, as well as Verizon Wireless devices and gift cards.

UNCF reviewed all submissions and selected five winners in the New York Metro region, with first place being awarded to Nicole Thompson of Newark, New Jersey. Nicole will receive a $5,000 college scholarship, an HP Mini 311 netbook, a DROID by Motorola smartphone and $2,250 in Verizon Wireless gift cards. Other winners in the New York Metro region include:
