Three highly respected figures from the telecommunications industry will present the keynote addresses at ABI Forums’ “4G Networks: LTE & WiMAX” conference in April.

Andrew Williamson, Head of Core & IMS Strategic Marketing, Ericsson AB, Garth Collins, Managing Director of Asia Pacific/Japan – WiMAX, and Jaikishan Rajaraman, Senior Director, Asia-Pacific of the GSM Association, will share the headline honors at the event, which will focus on next-generation mobile technologies, specifically LTE and WiMAX.

Andrew Williamson: Taking Care of the Cash Cow Telephony Services When Moving to 4G

What options exist for delivering voice and SMS services over packet-only 4G networks such as WiMAX and LTE? This presentation discusses the issues that must be overcome and the new opportunities 4G’s low latency and high bandwidth provide for premium communications services.

Garth Collier: Delivering the Mobile Internet Today, and Bridging the Digital Divide

This presentation will review WiMAX’s global success in 2009 and the outlook for increasing momentum in 2010. Mr. Collier will investigate case studies from mature and emerging markets to showcase how WiMAX is enabling new business models and pricing structures. The session will conclude with a review of device availability and in particular Intel’s WiMAX embedded roadmap.

Jaikishan Rajaraman: LTE – The Whole World United Under One Technology

With the major operators and vendors around the world committing to LTE, this presentation will look at the migration paths for operators and the more important factor of ensuring all services can be supported by a single platform. It will discuss the challenges that LTE has faced in supporting voice on an IP network, and the progress the industry has made in resolving those challenges to keep the ecosystem as large and vibrant as it is for GSM, 3G and HSPA.

The two-day event, which will be held in at the W Hotel in Hong Kong on April 15-16, 2010, will address a range of business and technology issues surrounding the continuing deployments of this next generation of mobile communications. It will address the critical issues surrounding overall deployment strategies, initial rollout and coverage, core network evolution and radio network evolution, and backhaul requirements.
