Garmin-Asustek has unveiled its third GPS-enabled smartphone, the M10, in the Taiwan market. The M10, which is powered by a Qualcomm 7227 600MHz chipset and runs on Windows Mobile 6.5.3, will be available through retail channels as well as Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), according to Asustek.

Pre-sale orders for the M10 received by channels have so far exceeded 1,000 units, revealed Benson Lin, president of Asustek's handheld device business unit. Garmin-Asustek looks to total sales of the M10 in the Taiwan market to surpass 20,000 units, Lin noted.

The M10 will be available in some selected other markets in Asia before the end of February and in China in April, Lin added.

Garmin-Asustek also plans to launch its first Android-powered smartphone in the second quarter of 2010. The Android phone will be manufactured by Foxconn International Holdings (FIH), Lin noted.
