Atlanta -- Lancope, Inc., the leader in NetFlow™ collection and analysis (http://news.lancope.com/press.php?include=141667) and the provider of the StealthWatch® System for flow-based network performance and security monitoring, announced the appointment of Mike Potts as president and CEO. Potts joins Lancope with more than 20 years of hands-on operational experience in the enterprise software and security industry.
Prior to joining Lancope, Potts served as president and CEO of AirDefense, where he led the company through an accelerated growth phase of more than 300% in 2-1/2 years. Under his leadership, AirDefense became the recognized global leader in wireless security and was strategically acquired by Motorola in September 2008. Potts takes the helm at Lancope following the retirement of Harland LaVigne, the chairman, president and CEO since 2002.
"Mike has tremendous experience in the technology industry and proven success leading public and private enterprise software companies," said Fred Sturgis, managing director at H.I.G. Ventures and a member of Lancope's board of directors. "We are excited to have Mike Potts as our new president and CEO. He has the strategic vision and operational acumen required to effectively implement Lancope's plans for future growth and success."
"End-to-end network visibility is a critical requirement for organizations that need to manage, secure and optimize network performance," said Potts. "As the flood of data traffic multiplies, Lancope is uniquely positioned to more rapidly identify network bottlenecks and remediate the underlying problems than any other solution on the market today. I look forward to leading the company during this pivotal, exciting time."
Before AirDefense, Potts served as president of Jacada (Nasdaq: JCDA), a software integration company. During his seven year tenure at Jacada, the company acquired more than 1,000 customers and completed a successful public offering in 1999. Prior to Jacada, Potts served in several sales and management roles at MSA, a financial application software company subsequently acquired by Dun and Bradsteet.
Potts graduated from the University of Georgia in 1984 with a BBA in Marketing.
