MediaTek to see growing shipments of LCD TV and handset solutions in 2Q10 Tweet

Mediatek is expected to see its LCD TV and handset chip solutions grow 10% and 5-10%, respectively, in the second quarter of 2010, according to estimates of industry sources.

The LCD TV solutions will be a growth driver for MediaTek in the second quarter as the company has continued to strengthen its sales of LCD TV solutions to China and other emerging markets, the sources noted.

MediaTek's second-quarter revenues are likely to grow 2-8% sequentially to NT$33.4-35.3 billion (US$1.07-1.13 billion), the sources projected.

Gross margin for the second quarter will be relatively low as low-margin 2.5G and 2.75G handset solutions will account for a large portion of cellphone solution shipments, added the sources.
