LG MINI HOSTS "SOCIAL" EVENTS IN BARCELONA AT THE MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS

Thursday, February 18, 2010

LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, has organized a series of spectacular events in Barcelona to coincide with the launch of its new social media-friendly LG Mini handset.

This small but mighty communication hub is designed to keep people in touch with their online friends while on the go without having to lug around a heavy computer or complicated mobile phone. During the Mobile World Congress, to be held in
Catalonia’s capital city from February 15th to 18th, LG will reach out beyond the borders of the fair itself to promote its newest, smallest and slimmest 3.2-inch touchscreen handset, LG Mini, which will be available in Europe starting in March, followed by other markets.

LG Mini Castells
On the first day of the Mobile World Congress, LG will take the tiny LG Mini to incredible heights atop a human castle (Castell in Catalan) near the city’s center. A group of well dressed businesspeople will transform into a troop of acrobatic performers
who assemble themselves into a castell – traditionally built during festivals in the Catalan region – on the Fira de Barcelona fairground.

This castell will begin as a small group and expand in size and strength, mirroring how social networks grow. Topping the castell will be a small boy holding the LG Mini and capturing the whole scene on the handset’s video camera to be shared on LG’s blogs and social network pages.

"The Catalonian castell represents connectivity, one of the key attributes of the small but powerful LG Mini," said Pablo Vidal, Chief Marketing Officer of LG Spain. “This phone is a pocket-size communication hub designed for people who want to
communicate faster and have easier access to the internet and social networks wherever they are, even atop a human castle.”

LG will organize other castells throughout the city during the Mobile World Congress. These will be announced in advance on LG’s blog at www.lgblog.es and on LG’s social network pages.

LG Mini follows you and your friends wherever you go
With another attention-grabbing event, called LG Mini Follows Me, 100 people – about the size of an average person’s online social network – will follow around one person carrying an LG Mini. The group will traverse the city travelling on the subway, stopping in restaurants and capping off the day with a drink on the terrace. LG will create a video showcasing how this LG Mini owner spent the day surrounded by friends. These videos will be shared on the LG blog and websites like YouTube and Facebook.

LG’s Mini Cars Transport Trade Fair Attendees in Style
To promote LG Mini’s “Small and Mighty” spirit, LG will shuttle mobile specialists distributors, national and international press around the Mobile World Congress using a fleet of LG Mini Cars. During their trips around the city these mobile experts will have an exclusive opportunity to test out the LG Mini before it hits the market. These LG Mini Cars will be available at the Fira de Barcelona fairground throughout the trade show.

About the LG Mini
LG Mini is the smallest and slimmest 3.2-inch full touchscreen phone, making it a perfect pocket-size communication hub for people who want to communicate faster and have easier access to the internet and social networks wherever they go. It is slimmer and more compact than any other 3.2-inch full touchscreen phone, allowing it to easily slide in a shirt pocket or small handbag. What’s more, the LG Mini is packed with popular features like speedy web browsing and fast push email. It also provides several
unique features including Social Network Connect, which makes keeping in touch with online friends even easier than on a desktop PC.
