The largest air carrier joint stock company “Aeroflot - Russian air lines” and operator of mobile connection joint stock company “megaphone” signed the agreement about the installation on the boards of the air vessels of joint stock company “Aeroflot” of the base stations of joint stock company “megaphone”. Aeroflot and [MegaFon] first in Russia will grant to air passengers the possibility to use mobile connection and Internet access during the flights.

On four liners of Aeroflot in 2010 the megaphone will establish base stations. The first air vessel, on board which will be expanded the network of the mobile connection of megaphone, will become the medium-haul passenger liner Of airbus Of [a]320. According to the estimation of the developers of project, service to connection on it they will become accessible to the passengers already in the summer of 2010. Prior to the end of the year Aeroflot and [MegaFon] plan to propose service to the passengers Of airbus Of [a]330, that carries out the transcontinental voyages (more than 5000 km), and also to the passengers of the two additional liners Of airbus Of [a]320.

Observance of the requirements of safety of passenger air transportation - most important condition for the assignment of new services. In accordance with the requirements of Russian legislation the equipment, which ensures to passengers free access to the services to connection, will be included only at the heights more than 3000 meters.

Services to mobile connection and transmissions of data on the airliners will be given to the users of standard GSM in the frequency range 1800 MHz. In the starting stage to passengers will be proposed the services of mobile Internet access and service SMS. Additionally on the [dalnemagistralnykh] voyages it is planned to organize Internet access on the technology Of wiFi. Connection during the flight will be accessible to the clients of megaphone and to the subscribers of other Russian and foreign mobile operators, which have [roumingovye] agreements with joint stock company “megaphone”. Tariffs on the services to connection operator will represent in the summer of 2010 before beginning the commercial operation of new services.
