Telefónica O2 Germany has entrusted Nokia Siemens Networks with a large services contract to expand its network capacity across Germany to further prepare for future increases in traffic growth.
“We are constantly investing in our network capabilities to offer the best possible quality to our customers and to prepare our network for future demand,” said Andrea Folgueiras, chief technology officer at Telefónica O2 Germany. “Nokia Siemens Networks is already our 3G technology supplier in the northeast and western areas of Germany and also convinced us that it has the service capability to handle a speedy network expansion.”
The contract provides for a range of services, including network implementation, project management and logistics for an efficient network expansion in those areas of Germany where Nokia Siemens Networks has previously deployed network infrastructure. In addition the two companies are extending an existing supplier contract for 2G/3G technology.
“O2 is one of the fastest-growing telecoms service providers in Germany and it is focused on sustaining and fueling that momentum,“ said Thomas Riedel, responsible at Nokia Siemens Networks for Telefónica Germany, Czech and Slovakia. “We will ensure a smooth network expansion so that O2 will be able to continue to deliver outstanding quality to its customers.”
