At the same time Jan will assume the newly created role of Head of Sony Ericsson Silicon Valley. Jan will be based at the company’s Redwood Shores, California, offices and will report directly to Bert Nordberg, President, Sony Ericsson.
Jan brings 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, during which time he has served as CTO of Ericsson as well as led the company’s development of both GSM and 3G technologies. He also has vast experience in building technology partnerships and alignment with leading operator customers in the US, Europe, Japan and China. Since 2008 Jan has been based in San Jose, California, and has been responsible for technology strategies for the Ericsson Group.
Commenting on today’s announcement, Bert Nordberg, President, Sony Ericsson, said: “I am very pleased today to announce the appointment of Jan Uddenfeldt to our management team as our new CTO and Head of Sony Ericsson Silicon Valley. Jan is deeply rooted in the telecommunications industry, and he will bring a wealth of experience and insight to Sony Ericsson.
