New Cell Sites Mean Clearer Reception, Fewer Dropped Calls.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Verizon Wireless has activated two new cell sites in downtown Indianapolis, improving coverage at four of the city’s most popular sports and tourist destinations for summer travelers as well as the city’s largest urban university campus.

The new cell sites will enable more customers to use their wireless phones to make calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The cell sites improve voice and data coverage at the following popular tourist destinations in the city that attract millions of visitors a year as well as one at of the city’s busiest urban campuses:

* Indianapolis Zoo
* White River State Park
* Lucas Oil Stadium
* Victory Field
* Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus

“Residents and visitors will benefit from these new cell sites, assuring everyone a great trip during this summer travel season by providing reliable cell phone connections for everything from making calls and sending messages to surfing the Internet and getting e-mail,” said Greg Haller, president – Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. “The most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. That’s why we aggressively invest in our Indiana network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers and continue to raise the bar in network reliability.”

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $59 billion since it was formed – $5.7 billion on average every year – to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. Since 2000, Verizon Wireless has invested $1.06 billion on improvements to its wireless network in Indiana. This year, the company will spend $57.4 million on its Indiana network.
