Motorola Subject Matter Experts Discuss Emerging Technologies, Mobility Solutions, Narrowbanding and Industry Trends.

LAS VEGAS – Motorola, Inc.’s (NYSE: MOT) Enterprise Mobility Solutions business will be discussing several high profile topics at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) with experts on 17 panels discussing key wireless mobility topics including emerging technologies such as 4G and video security, narrowbanding, mesh networks, ISSI and grant funding.

As an industry leader, Motorola provides customers and industry partners with insights and market trends as well as several new products and solutions that showcase a broad portfolio for public safety and professional and commercial communications at IWCE (Booth #7001).

Motorola’s leadership and innovation in wireless and broadband communications for public safety and enterprise will be on display at IWCE with a lineup of speakers throughout the show:

Monday, March 8:

* 8 a.m. to noon: Advanced Wireless Network Design; Ricardo Bovo, Motorola manager for enterprises and utilities, provides a tutorial on designing networks from the ground up as well as network fixes.
* 8 a.m. to noon: Disaster Communications A through W; Michael Harrington, Motorola senior account manager, discusses the responsibility for communications and defines the steps necessary to develop, prepare and employ a Joint Communications Support Unit for disaster response.

Tuesday, March 9:

* 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Wireless Surveillance 101; Chip Yeager, Motorola director of operations,for mesh networks, shares how to put together a successful plan to deploy a wireless video security network and reviews case studies.


Wednesday, March 10:

* 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Network Interoperability – Where are we now?; John Muench, Motorola director of business development, shares the current state of interoperability technologies and what the future may hold.
* 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Migrating Legacy Systems; Kevin Tenbrunsel, Motorola director of private broadband business development, discusses the actual logistics and considerations for planning the upgrade or migration to a privately owned system and explores the various options available to enterprises and agencies regarding operational features, what legacy systems offer and examines case studies of agencies that moved to new systems.
* 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.: Systems Integrator Roundtable; David Confalonieri, Motorola director of complex projects systems integration, discusses challenges, solutions and benefits of working with the public safety sectors as PS moves toward IP-based technology.
* 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Rebanding: Let’s Finish This!; Chuck Jackson, Motorola vice president and director of system operations, highlights licencees who have finished the job and how to avoid problems they have encountered.
* 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. LTE – Preparing for the Future; Kevin Tenbrunsel, Motorola director of private broadband business development, offers what attendees need to know for LTE planning and what waivers are available to begin rolling out.
* 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.: Digital Radios for Firefighters: The Impact of New Technology; Mike Petersen, Motorola director of engineering, discusses the impact of a new technology once it is already in use.
* 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.: Leveraging Federal Funding: Grant Writing and Sourcing; Domingo Herraiz, Motorola director of government and enterprise funding programs, provides an overview of the grant acquisition process, including finding grants and developing winning proposals.
* 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.: Mobile Voice and Data – Cost Savings for Enterprises ; Mario Di Prizio, Motorola CTO for converged enterprise communications, discusses the forecasted emerging mobile voice and data trends including the long-term potential of mobile VoIP and data technologies affecting the basic architecture of enterprise voice systems.

Thursday, March 11:

* 8:30 to 10 a.m.: State of the Industry Roundtable; Rick Neal, Motorola, vice president business development, government markets, joins top manufacturers and other leading voices in the industry to provide a snapshot of where they are going in the wireless communications, land mobile radio and broadband voice arenas.
* 10 to 11:10 a.m.: Narrowbanding: Migrating to 12.5- or even 6.25 KHz- by 2011; Al Ittner, president of the Land Mobile Communications Council (LMCC) and Motorola senior manager of spectrum and regulatory strategy, reviews the different methods by which 6.25 kHz equivalency can be met, using FDMA or TDMA.
* 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m.: 700 MHz on the Street; Stu Overby, Motorola senior director, global spectrum strategy, examine the progress to date in deployment of 700 MHz Narrowband systems.



Friday, March 12:

* 8:30 a.m to 10:00 a.m.: General Session: Narrowbanding: Meeting the Mythbusters, Al Ittner, president, Land Mobile Communications Council (LMCC), and Motorola senior manager of spectrum and strategy; There has been much press – and much misinformation – about the FCC’s mandate to narrowband to 12.5 kHz. What is an agency or organization required to do? What decisions has the FCC made that change the game? Join this 30,000 foot discussion of this hot topic.
* 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Project 25 Compliance Assessment Program; John Muench, Motorola director of business development, facilitates a discussion among the P25 CAP representatives and practitioners about the P25 CAP, potential improvements, and successes thus far.
* 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Leveraging and Optimizing the White Space Opportunity; Stu Overby, Motorola senior director of global spectrum strategy, examines the rules and requirements for using white space to discover how to identify available channels in your area, and learn how to manage and optimize throughput, reliability and capacity for this spectrum. Additionally, he explores what types of devices, applications and services can operate under white space spectrum.

Motorola Innovation on Display at IWCE (Booth #7001)

Motorola is also announcing new features for the MOTOTRBO™ Professional Digital Two-Way Radio System, including the launch of its Transmit Interrupt Suite, new 800/900 MHz frequency band portable and mobile radios, an 800 MHz frequency band repeater, a 900 MHz frequency band repeater and the new MTR®3000, a 100-watt base station/repeater providing increased coverage.

MOTOTRBO eases the migration from analog to digital technology. At IWCE, Motorola is announcing new analog trunked portable and mobile radios and Dynamic Mixed Mode repeater functionality, enabling operators of mixed fleets of analog and digital radios to use the same repeater.

Motorola will also be introducing IMPRES Fleet Management software for Motorola’s exclusive IMPRES batteries to automatically collect the data that administrators require from their battery fleet. Information is collected during battery charging so administrators can easily determine appropriate actions such as removing them from the fleet.
