MediaTek solution shipments to push Anpec and ESMT products in 2Q10

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

More branded and white-box handset makers have recently accelerated their adoption of MediaTek's 2.5G/2.75G SoC solution MT6253 and MT6268 3G solution – a trend which is likely to help analog IC maker Anpec Electronics and NOR flash vendor Elite Semiconductor Memory Technology (ESMT) to push their shipments in the second quarter, according to industry sources.

Anpec's high voltage analog ICs and ESMT's NOR flash chips are designed to pair with MediaTek's 2.5/2.75G and 3G solutions and an increasing adoption of the MT6253 and MT6268 will mean more shipments for Anpec and ESMT, the sources explained.

Reflecting the increasing popularity of MediaTek's SoC solutions, Anpec saw its shipments of HV analog ICs expand to three million units in March compared to one million units a month at the end of 2009, the sources pointed out, adding that Anpec may see its monthly shipments of HV analog ICs surpass five million units in the second quarter.

China-based handset makers are also increasing their purchases of NOR flash and SRAM chips from ESMT, and ESMT is likely to see its revenues to expand significantly in the second quarter, the sources noted.
