Simple tips to improve your blog page ranking on Google search engines with content SEO techniques

As the largest search engine and control more than 65% market share, Google search engine of choice the owners of the websites or blogs to make in the first position. With the increasing complexity of the Google algorithms, the first way works, it has now become not so useful anymore. Especially if you use illegal SEO techniques, then do not ever expect Google will index your websites or blogs.

Another SEO technique that is hated and will banned by the Google is the duplicate content. If some time ago Google takes a long time to detect duplicate content, so this time Google will quickly find out duplicate content and immediately delete it or not will never enter into the Google database.

Many people ask with me, why my blog always get a good ranking in Google search engine?

Many people doing everything to get a good ranking in Google. One thing that makes them forget about the quality of the page itself. If a page is not attractive to the user, the user will immediately close the page and will not be interested to reading another articles. If this happens a lot, certainly not a good thing for you because it will cause your site's ranking down.

Actually, there is no special secret from me, I just followed the instructions from the most trusted source of Google itself. Google makes it clear that "content is the king", then I just make an article I wrote myself, useful and interesting for my blog readers. Since the article I made almost match what users search Google, the visitor is interested in reading another articles and the time he had spent quite some time.

The more he read the article and the longer time of visit, will make my blog better in Google and will maintain my ranking. If my blog located at the bottom, then in quick time will go up to a higher ranking. Now, makes the "content is the king" on your blogs for best Google result pages.

Pandigital, B&N partner on $200 color e-reader

If you know of Pandigital, you probably know it for its photo frames. However, the company is moving into the hot e-book reader market with a device that a lot of people have been waiting for: an affordable color screen e-book reader with ties to a major bookseller.

Integrated with the Barnes & Noble's e-book store, the Pandigital Novel is an Android-powered e-book reader that has a full color 7-inch touch-screen display, Wi-Fi connectivity, and multimedia capabilities. According to Pandigital, the reader will cost $199.99 when it ships in June.

While we're surprised to see Barnes & Noble partnering with Pandigital, but as anybody who has played around with the iPad knows, it's not a big leap from digital photo frame to e-book reader. Judging by the Novel's press shots, it looks a lot like the rumored smaller version of the iPad that some sites and analysts have been alluding to. That said, the Novel 800x600-pixel resolution display isn't as sharp as the iPad's is, and its resistive touch-screen interface--while responsive--isn't as responsive the iPad's capacitive touch-screen interface is.

An Arm 11 processor powers the Novel, which measures 7.5 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide by 0.5 inch thick and weighs 16 ounces. It has 1GB of built-in memory and has an expansion slot for SD/MMC memory cards--with support for cards up to 32GB in capacity. Pandigital rates its Novel's battery life at six hours in reading mode. That's not a terrible battery life, but it's neither near the iPad's battery life nor the battery life of dedicated e-ink-based e-book readers, such as the Amazon Kindle, that don't have to be recharged for days or even weeks.

Novel approach: Pandigital's e-book reader looks a little like a mini iPad.

While the Novel has multimedia features as well as a built-in Web browser, e-mail client, calendar, and alarm, Pandigital is billing its new devices first and foremost as an e-book reader. According to the company, Novel owners will have "easy access to Barnes & Noble's expansive eBookstore catalog of more than one million eBooks, newspapers and magazines, a wide variety of free eBooks and more than half a million free classics." Novel users can also use Barnes & Noble LendMe feature that lets you share certain e-books with friends and family for 14 days; however, currently you can only lend a book out once.

Here are the devices key specifications:

* Operating system: Android (ARM 11 processor)
* 7-inch touch-screen TFT color display (800x600-pixel resolution)
* Weight: 16 ounces
* Integrated Barnes & Noble e-book store
* Wi-Fi enabled
* 1 GB internal memory with SD/MMC slot (supports up to 32GB cards)
* Automatically adjusts between portrait and landscape mode when the device is tilted
* e-book formats supported included PDF, EPUB, and HTML
* Adjustable font sizes, built-in dictionary, highlights, and notes
* Built-in Web browser, e-mail client, alarm clock, and calendar
* Plays back audio (MP3s), displays images and certain video file formats
* Built-in Mini-USB port for transferring files from computer (Mac and PC compatible)

All of the Novel's details look pretty good--particularly its $200 price point--but its backlit LCD will get washed out in direct sunlight, making it suitable more as an indoor reading device than as an outdoor reader, like the Kindle or Nook are. At $200, it seems the Novel is more versatile than Barnes & Nobel's Nook ($259) is, which led us to ask Barnes & Noble representatives whether they thought the Novel might cannibalize sales of its own e-book reader.

Mary Ellen Keating, a Barnes & Noble spokesperson, had this to say:

"Barnes & Noble's strategy is to offer our content on multiple platforms, so we're happy to power this new device and others. Nook is a dedicated eReading device with key design, reading and in-store features that are innovative, immersive and exciting for our customers. We don't believe our continued work with third-party partners will have any effect on our continued strong Nook sales."

Part of the reason why Barnes & Noble probably isn't too concerned with is that the Novel will only have limited distribution when it's released in the next month. We hope to have a full review up in the next few weeks. Until then, let us know what you think about it.

Can Google Beat Apple? Not a Chance, says Jobs

*
Apple CEO responds to user queries, assures a good show at developer event next month.

Looks like Apple's followers just got a bit worried after Google overwhelmed the world with the Android 2.2 update announcement. One such soul, Bryan Webster, emailed Steve Jobs if Apple is going to reply back to Google's announcement at the Worldwide Developers Conference, reported MacRumors. To this, Apple CEO replied, "You won't be disappointed". Looks like Apple certainly would be sweeping the world off its feet - with the iPhone 4G launch, we suppose.

The Android Froyo spectacle at Google I/O conference last week has certainly attracted many potential mobile phone buyers' attention. Not only that, native as well as web browser based support for Flash and HTML5 to Android phones has got many Apple fans think if they were missing out on something. However, the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference starts on June 7 and a bunch of interesting announcements are anticipated on the iPhone front.

Gizmodo had given a detailed account of how Google had leapfrogged Apple. A concerned guy named Brian (could be Gizmodo's Brian Lam, who knows), mailed Steve Jobs and asked:

Dear Steve,
Have you read this Gizmodo article? What are your thoughts on it? Do you believe Google is surpassing you guys or do you believe something different? What do you plan on doing if Google is surpassing Apple?

Any thoughts?

Sincerely,
Brian

And as usual, Steve Jobs replied with minimal but powerful words - Not a chance.

So Apple certainly does have some fireworks stored for the June 7 and we know it's going to be new iPhone 4G. Let's hope that announcement also brings along something many users have been seeking since long - iPhone Tethering.

Clarification on the Android Froyo Update

Saturday I posted a link online to the Android 2.2 froyo update found on Google’s servers where all OTA update files live. The filename was tipped off by a user that received this update over the air on his Nexus One device. Having the filename for the update, manually downloading the file from the originating server was very simple. At no point during this process did Google actually confirm that Android 2.2 was being sent to consumer devices. A number of theories have been presented as to what has happened, so I’ll present information I collected with a conversation I had with someone at Google. At the time of my conversation it seemed no one was actually sure what happened or how the OTA was received by someone outside of Google. This wasn’t an attempt to push the press the update early, it seems it is more likely that in trying to push the update internally to Google employees there were a few imei numbers in the push that were not supposed to be there. It also could have been leaked by someone who was supposed to get update as well. The answer to the question as far as I know has not been answered.

The FRF50 update could possibly be the final build release to the public but it also may not be.I am trying to find out if a zip file will be provided to update from FRF50 to the actual 2.2 release if that is indeed the case. At this point in time that is something that really cannot be answered because it may in fact not be an issue.

The link to the OTA update was removed because it is not supposed to be circulating in the public. Google has not made a formal announcement relating to the removal of the OTA update from there servers either.

Another important note noticed by a few users last night, the Android 2.2 FRF50 update is currently not able to see copy-protected applications in the Android Market. This has actually been an issue with the Market previously with officially released phones so a solution to this probably won’t require an update, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

So to summarize, if you still wish to install the Android 2.2 update it is absolutely at your own risk. No one other than yourself will assume responsibility for any issues as a result of you updating your phone. Questions or comments, feel free to discuss them here.

Chrome-To-Android Extension: Awesome, Deadly

One of the cooler, subtle things that Google showed off at Google I/O was its new Android Cloud to Device Messaging service that’s a part of Android 2.2. The “don’t call it Push Notifications” service allows you to automatically send links from your computer to your Android device.

Everyone is talking about the ability to push Android apps (and eventually music/media) to your devices — and rightly so. But also useful is this link push ability. For example, if you looking at a page on your computer than you want to take on the go (something I do all the time), you can now just use a Chrome extension and with one click, it automatically appears on your phone.

And it’s even more useful with maps. If you’re looking up an address in Google Maps on your computer, you can click the extension and it will automatically push it to your Android device — and open it in the Maps app.

This sort of reminds me of the television show 24. Jack Bauer is constantly telling Chloe O’Brien to send stuff to his phone — and magically it always seems to appear in seconds. With this, that would actually be possible.

Of course, there’s a downside to this too. Imagine a friend or co-worker is at your computer where you have the extension installed. They could easily push you any page. Porn, Rickrolls, etc — imagine the possibilities!

Watch it in action with both a link and a map below.

If you have Android 2.2 (and if you don’t yet, be patient, it’s coming) go to the Chrome-to-Phone Google Code page for instructions on how to make this work. Basically, you just install a Chrome extension and an Android app and you’re good to go. This all works because it syncs through your Gmail address over AppEngine.

Ruckus Wireless Awarded Wi-Fi Security Patent for Dynamic Authentication and Encryption

New Innovation Advances and Simplifies Wi-Fi Security by Allowing Encryption Keys to be Automatically Generated for Each Wireless User and Installed on End User Devices.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Ruckus Wireless™ announced that it has been granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for an innovation that radically simplifies the configuration, administration and strength of wireless network security. This patent is one of nearly two dozen patents granted to Ruckus with dozens more pending approval.

The new technique, commonly known as Dynamic Pre-Shared Key (PSK), effectively eliminates tedious and time-consuming manual installation of encryption keys, passphrases or user credentials needed to securely access a wireless network. Dynamic PSK changes this model by dynamically generating strong, unique security keys for each authenticated user, automatically installing these encryption keys on end user devices with little or no human intervention.

With the explosive growth of Wi-Fi networks around the world, organizations have struggled with how to streamline the complexity and cost of implementing robust wireless security. Many companies have used a passphrase that must be shared among many users and manually entered into client devices. If this "pre-shared key" becomes known or stolen it must be changed for all users and manually re-entered into every client device.

A popular alternative to the pre-shared key approach is an elaborate security framework (e.g. 802.1X) that requires information, such as unique certificates or supplicants, to be installed on every user device. Deploying such systems requires a high level of technical expertise as well as ongoing technical support for users.

"With Wi-Fi there has historically been two ends of the security spectrum," said Steve Martin, VP of Engineering for Ruckus Wireless. "On one end is the simple approach that makes life easy for network managers but creates potential security concerns for companies. On the other end is a very robust but often overwhelming security framework, such as 802.1X, that requires a tremendous amount of time and effort to implement and administer. We've created the best of both worlds with a user-friendly and low maintenance method for providing a high level of wireless security."

Using Dynamic PSK, organizations can now streamline the administration of wireless security with the confidence of knowing that their wireless network is protected. Integrated into all Ruckus ZoneDirector wireless LAN controllers at no cost, Dynamic PSK technology is device-independent and works on laptops and handheld Wi-Fi enabled devices.

How Does Dynamic PSK Work?

When a user initially accesses the wireless network, they are authenticated through a captive portal on the Ruckus ZoneDirector. This information is checked against any standard back-end authentication server such as Active Directory, RADIUS or an internal database on the ZoneDirector.

Once the user has successfully authenticated, Dynamic PSK technology automatically generates a unique encryption key for that user device. This key is downloaded to the client and automatically configured, along with the requisite Wi-Fi information. This eliminates users from having to manually configure anything and dramatically reduces the technical support burden on IT staff.

Each Dynamic PSK is bound to a specific client device and has a configurable lifetime. With Dynamic PSK, organizations control the length of time that each key is valid in increments of hours, days, weeks or months. Once the key expires, users must re-authenticate. If a user device is stolen, others on the network are not at risk. Network managers only need to delete the compromised user or device record in their authentication database.

"The simplicity of these technologies, like Dynamic PSK, truly changes the game for wireless deployments," said Matthew Crandall, Associate Director of Information Services at Johnson College in Pennsylvania. "Dynamic PSK has been a remarkable time-saving tool for us -- eliminating the hassle of configuring each and every end user device while still giving us state-of-the-art Wi-Fi security.

"Like a lot of organizations, we demanded strong wireless security but didn't want the management hassles associated with it. Dynamic PSK breaks through the conventional problems that have inhibited implementing a simple and strong wireless security architecture that easily scales," concluded Crandall.

Johnson College operates a campus-wide 802.11n Wi-Fi network across 13 buildings. When new users access an open "provisioning" wireless network (SSID), they use secure HTTPS to authenticate against Johnson College's user directory. Once authenticated, user devices are automatically configured with a unique encryption key and required SSID information. The devices then securely connect to the appropriate Johnson College wireless network.

PhoneTell Lets Your Smartphone Tell You Who to Call and Who's Calling You

Free New Mobile Application For Android Smartphones Launching at TechCrunch Provides Cloud-based Caller ID and Integrated Search and Dialing Solution; You can Manage Inbound Phone Calls With One Click and Find Any Number You Want Instantly.

NEW YORK -- PhoneTell, "the call experience company," launched a new mobile application for Android smartphones that helps you easily manage inbound phone calls quickly, and allows you to search and discover any number you want, instantly. Demonstrations of PhoneTell can be seen at Disrupt 2010 in New York City from May 24-26.

With PhoneTell, you can screen inbound calls and accept, decline or respond with just one click. You can see who's calling, even when the person or business is not in your address book. With PhoneTell, you can respond from a menu of pre-set or user-customized text messages that let your caller know you got their call with one simple click of a button. PhoneTell even schedules a call back reminder so you never again forget to call someone back.

"This is going to change how people interact with their phone. Traditionally, information on incoming calls was limited to what was in your address book. If it was a business or some other unknown caller or telemarketer, you were out of luck," said Steve Larsen, CEO, PhoneTell. "With PhoneTell, you now see precisely who's calling and can choose to answer or decline and have a text automatically sent to the caller with the touch of a button. PhoneTell truly makes your smartphone 'smarter'."

PhoneTell also takes your search for phone numbers beyond your mobile phone address book to your "personal cloud" of contacts and the vast universe of public and private phone number information. PhoneTell instantly scours these data sources and with its patent-pending algorithms, searches, verifies, de-dupes and delivers ranked search matches instantly to your smartphone. "Any number you would ever want to call - instantly accessible right in your dialer," added Larsen.

"In all the excitement over mobile apps, people often forget that the mobile device is after all, a phone," says Michael Boland, analyst and Program Director for BIA/Kelsey. "PhoneTell's new capabilities provide a better toolset for users to find phone numbers and identify incoming calls. This makes smartphone dialers more capable, and mobile users and their devices smarter."

Managing High-Quality Connections While on the Move

It happens to you every day; you're at lunch, in an important meeting or on another call when your phone rings, and it's just NOT a good time. But you would still like to acknowledge and respond to your caller. This is when you most appreciate PhoneTell. Here are some situations where PhoneTell would come in handy!

* You're having lunch with an important client and get a call from the nanny. You simply click on PhoneTell, which instantly sends a text saying, "I can't talk right now, but text me or call again if this is urgent."
* Your newly-licensed teenager is driving and receives a call from a friend. He simply clicks on PhoneTell and a text is sent instantly saying, "I'm driving; can't talk right now. Will call you back."
* You're in an important meeting and get a call from a headhunter who has an update on a new career opportunity. With one click, you send him an SMS saying, "I can't talk now, but will call you back in 30 minutes." You can even tell PhoneTell to remind you with the caller's phone number, so you are sure to connect.
* You're at a movie when you receive a call from the doctor's office. You've been waiting for test results, but it would be rude to answer in the theatre. With PhoneTell, you can instantly send a message saying, "I can't talk right now, but please call me back in an hour."

PhoneTell is available for Android 2.0/2.1 phones, including the Nexus One and Motorola Droid. It is a free download available from the Android Market. Blackberry and iPhone versions are coming soon.

Insights into Tudou's Original Web Content Move

Web content modelled after television formatting with four pillars: production, distribution, broadcasting and monetization; made-for-Internet content by young talents for young audiences.

BEIJING -- Last week in Beijing, China's leading video website Tudou ( http://www.tudou.com ) announced the launch of its "Orange Box" made-for-Internet original content production plan and "Warehouse No. 6," an independent filmmakers' incubation program. On the surface, the announcement appeared to be yet another entertainment initiative. But, a deeper examination finds Tudou's move a calculated and strategic attempt to expand its content offerings based on the television model.

This May has been a busy and noisy month for the Internet video market in China. State-owned television broadcaster CCTV officially announced plans to merge its online operations, the long-time CCTV.com, into the newly launched "China Network Television" official site CNTV.cn by May 31, 2010. In the meantime, major video websites Tudou, Youku, and Ku6 and portals Sina, Sohu, and Tencent all announced signing the 2010 FIFA World Cup online broadcasting licensing deals with CCTV in the same week. Additionally, China search engine giant Baidu officially launched its Hulu clone Qiyi.com, hosting only copyrighted movies, TV dramas and variety shows. Needless to say, everyone is jumping to capitalize on the growth of the online video industry in China as they see the trends of consumer media behavior changing and advertising dollars are shifting toward Internet video. Online video pure play, portals, search engines and TV players are re-organizing themselves around the video entertainment market paradigm change.

According to China iResearch, annual online video category total advertising revenue in China has grown almost 70% from RMB800 million in 2008 to RMB1.3 billion (or US$200 million) in 2009. Online video ad market growth is projected to range between 60% to 80% annually in the next three years.

While capturing the lion's share of the user base and advertising dollar increases, Tudou's recent announcement kicking off its made-for-Internet original web productions is aimed at broadening its content offering and deepening long-term competitive strength. Like YouTube and major video vertical players, Tudou boasts huge traffic and a massive 200 million monthly unique audience reach. While monetizing the traffic by advertising has quickly become a proven business model, it may not be enough. A 20-year Chinese TV veteran and a media expert commented, as TV in China is relatively regulated, Tudou's paving its ways to create a made-for-Internet content ecosystem signals Internet video sites' ambition to create a new alternative model outside of network television companies' business and operational systems, with a new audience watching new media.

Starting in 2010, a number of online video websites in China announced different kinds of content initiatives via relatively simple approaches such as partnerships or funding. Tudou is choosing a more sophisticated and resource-consuming route, building its own production pipelines managing four key pillars: production, distribution, broadcasting and monetization. "We want to get our own hands deep into the content business and minimize the dependencies that stem from involving too many third parties," said Gary Wang, Tudou Founder & CEO. Along with the plan to launch two Tudou-branded drama series in the fall season, Tudou is also aggressively recruiting young independent filmmakers to join the wagon for more web-based production demands down the road.

Gary Wang said, "At the core, it's about Tudou's audience and about the Chinese young talent pool." In the past five years, Tudou, the earliest video sharing site in China, has witnessed the amazing growth of young Chinese filmmaking talents and enabled the commercial developments for a number of them. Pi San, an animator featured in the annual 2010 Tudou Video Festival Financial Forum, successfully signed a multi-million RMB contract with China Central Television (CCTV) to produce a 104-episode animation series. The Best Animation winning video "The Adventures of Li Xianji" by Yang Li, living in Beijing, was recognized by renowned movie producer Chen Guofu and will be adapted into a 90-minute cinema release from its 20-minute original. "Mr. Lei" by a 24-year old young director Ke Deng, a webisode series co-funded by the China Film Group and Tudou was well received and also secured ad sponsorships from Dongfeng Peugeot, Hewlett-Packard and Motorola.

NEW YORK -- Google and Sony share the top spot in a study of the world's most reputable companies conducted by Reputation Institute. Disney, BMW, and Daimler round out the top five in a consumer survey that measured the reputations of 600 of the world's most prominent companies. The study provides a first ever assessment of the global reputation landscape -- the companies that are most liked, trusted, and respected by the general public across 24 countries. Data collection was powered by Survey Sampling International.

The study was conducted in two parts. In January 2010, Reputation Institute measured the reputations of the world's 600 largest companies in their home countries. The highest rated companies in each of 32 countries were then selected as candidates for a second study that also rated the world's most visible and valuable corporate brands provided they had above average home country reputations. The outcome of the second study was a final roster of 28 global companies that are well regarded at home but that have also successfully exported their reputations around the world.

"Technology has a powerful grip on the global rankings," says Dr. Charles Fombrun, Chairman of Reputation Institute. "Companies like Google, Sony, Apple, Nokia, Intel, and Microsoft have earned our trust and respect because they are all-pervasive solution-providers that affect our daily lives. Disney's global mind-share as an entertainment provider is remarkable, as is the admiration with which consumers hold auto-makers BMW and Daimler/Mercedes-Benz. They are power-houses of reputation-building around the world."

Geographical Highlights

Reputation Institute examined how these companies were perceived across five regions: Asia, Central Europe, Central & South America, North America, and Northern Europe.

Top rated Sony and Google were consistently strong around the world, with Sony scoring among the top five in all regions and Google in four of the five regions. Google did not make it into Asia's top five.

The rankings within regions are:

* Asia: 1) The Walt Disney Company, 2) Daimler/Mercedes Benz, 3) BMW, 4) Sony, and 5) Singapore Airlines.
* Central Europe: 1) Sony, 2) BMW, 3) Google, 4) Volkswagen, and 5) Daimler/Mercedes Benz.
* Central & South America: 1) Nestle, 2) Sony, 3) Google, 4) BMW, and 5) Johnson & Johnson.
* North America: 1) Johnson & Johnson, 2) Google, 3) Nestle, 4) The Walt Disney Company, and 5) Sony.
* Northern Europe: 1) Google, 2) IKEA, 3) Sony, 4) The Walt Disney Company, and 5) Singapore Airlines.

Reputation, Can You Take it With You?

Most companies can expect to be more liked, trusted, admired and respected in their home countries than around the world. Of the 54 companies measured in the study, only five had a better reputation globally than they enjoy in their home markets: Apple, Ford, Google, Nestle, and Sony.

According to Kasper Nielsen, Managing Partner of Reputation Institute, "companies often ask us whether we think they can export their home-grown reputations to other countries. Based on this study, the answer is a qualified yes. Some have done it, but most have not fared as well abroad as they could. It clearly suggests that the same communication strategies used in one country will not always succeed in another. In our reputation analyses, we find that what matters most to consumers can vary widely from one country or region to another. But universally it pays off to build reputation. If you improve reputation by 5 points you improve recommendations by 6%. So companies must identify what people are expecting from them so they can identify areas to focus on in order to earn the support of consumers."

How to Tell Your Corporate Story

Consumers want to know what a company is doing beyond its product and services. Excellent reputations are built across seven key dimensions: Products/Services, Innovation, Governance, Workplace, Citizenship, Leadership and Performance. Statistical analysis shows that each dimension accounts for over 12 percent of the variation in reputation. Top scorers Google and Sony performed well across dimensions, with Google rated among the top five on all seven dimensions and Sony among the top ten. The results confirm that a balanced reputation platform is what earns trust, esteem, admiration, and good feeling from consumers.

Drivers of reputation vary by industry and country. In 2010, across the final 54 companies measured by Reputation Institute, the most influential factors with consumers are Products/Services, Innovation, and Governance. As Nicolas Trad, Managing Partner, Reputation Institute, puts it "…the key insight from this analysis is that people care more than ever about the companies behind the products and services they use. Companies can create deeper connections with consumers than products alone can achieve, and they do this by speaking out about who they are as companies and engaging on what matters to them. Getting the word out helps drive business results."

About the Global Reputation Pulse Study

The multinational companies whose reputations were measured across countries include: Apple (AAPL), AT&T (T), Barilla, BP (BP), BMW (BYMTF, BAMXF, BMW), Carlsberg (CABHF, CABJF), Carrefour (CRERF), Daimler/Mercedes-Benz (DAI), Dell (DELL), FedEx (FDX), Ferrero, Fiat (FIATY), Ford Motor (F), General Electric (GE), Google (GOOG), Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), Hitachi (HIT, HTHIF), Honda Motor (HMC, HNDAF), HSBC Holdings (HBC, HBCYF), Hyundai (HYMLF), IBM (IBM), IKEA, Inditex / Zara (0HAB), ING Group (ING, INGVF), Intel (INTC), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Kraft Foods (KFT), Lenovo (LNVGF, LNVGY), LG (LGLD), L'Oreal (LOL), Marks & Spencer Group (MAKSF, MAKSY), McDonald's (MDNDF), Microsoft (MSFT), Nestle (NSRGY, NSRGF), Nissan Motor (NSANF, NSANY), Nokia (NOK), Panasonic (PC, PCRFF), Pepsico (PEP), Petrobras (PZE, PEFGF), Peugeot (PEUGF), Philips Electronics (PHG), Procter & Gamble (PG), Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A, RDS), Samsung Electronics (SSNLF), Singapore Airlines (S55:SGX), Sony (SNE), The Coca-Cola Company (KO), The Walt Disney Company (DIS), Toyota Motor (TM, TOYOF), Unilever (ULVR), UPS (UPS), Vodafone (VOD), and Volkswagen (VLKAF).

In May 2010, consumers were invited to rate these 54 finalists in each of 24 countries: Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Each respondent rated a maximum of five randomly assigned companies with which they were familiar, using Reputation Institute's standardized measure of corporate reputation—the Reputation Pulse. A Reputation Pulse score is a measure of corporate reputation calculated by averaging the degree of trust, esteem, admiration, and good feeling people have for a company. Reputation Pulse scores range from a low of 0 to a high of 100, and scores that differ by more than +/-0.5 are significantly different at the 95% confidence level. Scores are normalized to enable cross-country compilations and comparisons.

Over 181,000 reputation ratings were obtained in this study, and each company received an average of 3,360 ratings across the 24 countries. A total of 28 companies earned global scores above 70 and therefore membership on Reputation Institute's list of the world's most reputable companies. They are among a very select set of global companies that have succeeded in building strong positive relationships with a wide range of consumers around the world.

Tyco Electronics Introduces the Elo TouchSystems Interactive Digital Signage Solution

- New Family of Ruggedized, Stylized, Large Format Touch Displays Deliver the Power of Interactive Information, Consumer Engagement and Content Measurement -

SEATTLE -- Elo TouchSystems, a Tyco Electronics (NYSE: TEL) business, launched at SID 2010 a new line of Interactive Digital Signage (IDS) touch systems designed to drive significant opportunities for digital display applications and development. The new IDS portfolio – which combines precision acoustic pulse recognition touch screen technology with commercial-grade, large format LCD panels – offers System Integrators, Value-Added Resellers and Software Developers a high-performance solution for the interactive enablement of large-scale digital displays in high-traffic environments.

Interactivity that Works

The new Elo TouchSystems IDS portfolio offers the digital signage market a unique industry solution: the only display system to incorporate zero-bezel, edge-to-edge glass touch-screen technology into large-format, ruggedized panels specifically built for commercial environments. The responsive Elo TouchSystems acoustic pulse recognition (APR) touch technology – which promises consistent, resilient touch functionality – is housed in a highly durable, aluminum chassis to ensure reliable interactivity and performance in almost any public-access location. Optional computer modules further optimize media bandwidth and interactivity for the delivery of highly engaging and measurable consumer content.

"Our new IDS portfolio offers the digital signage market something it hasn't seen before: large-format, exceptionally durable display screens specifically designed for interactive touch applications," said Mark Mendenhall, vice president, Tyco Electronics and general manager of Elo TouchSystems. "Elo considers touch functionality the next wave of consumer engagement and targeted out-of-home messaging – and we believe that our IDS portfolio will significantly drive this evolution in the digital signage market by accelerating our channel partners' adoption and competitive advantage."

High-Grade Components

The new Elo TouchSystems IDS family features three sizes of zero-bezel Digital Signage-rated displays (vs. panels designed for home environments) measuring 32- to 46-inches. The portfolio incorporates advanced panel technologies including Samsung Electronics' LCD Digital Information Display (DID) technology to provide a scratch resilient, aluminum frame encased solution able to withstand constant interactivity in high-traffic, public-access venues. Elo TouchSystems APR technology recognizes touch on virtually the entire screen surface, offering full-screen interface navigation regardless of how the screen is touched (finger, prosthetics, stylus or pen) and a highly efficient display canvas for almost any commercial application.

"As today's businesses and consumers become more and more accustomed to touch interfaces on their mobile devices it becomes clear that the integration of touch will create an entirely new class of large-scale, out-of-home digital signage for retail environments," said Scott Birnbaum, vice president, Samsung LCD Business. "Elo TouchSystems' robust interactive IDS solution – combined with Samsung's bright, high-contrast DID panel technology – should be a real game-changer for the digital signage industry."

Elo TouchSystems IDS also features optional high performance computer modules ideally suited for interactive media delivery and measurement. These optional computer modules run either an Intel Celeron Dual Core or Core 2 Duo processor, and slide into a dedicated bay behind the touch display. The system is interoperable with content management servers and Web-based consoles for seamless connection with the Internet and applications such as multimedia sharing and electronic point-of-sale. The computer modules can support optimal partitioning of locally cached and network stored content, allowing developers to monitor and deploy content via device-to-device or Web connections.

The seamless edge-to-edge glass design of the new Elo TouchSystems IDS family facilitates dust and contaminant resistance as well as easy care and cleaning. Power and monitor control functions can be locked-out to prevent tampering and speakers are built-in with audio expansion capabilities.

Elo TouchSystems will showcase its new Interactive Digital Systems, along with other touch technology innovations, in Booth #1207 at the Society for Information Display (SID) 2010 Display Week at the Washington State Convention Center, Seattle, WA May 23 – 28th.
