Collaborative Interoperability Testing for Great On-line Mobile Media Experiences.

EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands -- NXP Software, the leading provider of multimedia software for mobile devices, was hosting this year's "face to face" interoperability testing event for the International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium (IMTC) Packet-Switched Streaming Services Activity Group (PSS-AG). The event was scheduled for January 25 - 29, 2010.

Six major telecommunication companies, being Orange Lab, PacketVideo, Samsung, Nextreaming, Alcatel-Lucent and NXP Software, came to the NXP Software office in Suresnes, France for an intensive week of compatibility testing between the products of different vendors.

Five days of intensive interoperability tests were conducted between servers, multimedia players and various prototype handsets. The tests were carried out according the latest 3GPP Release 7 specifications.

This year's testing focused on NAT traversal, RTSP fast startup, high bit rate HSDPA QVGA streaming, fast content switching and network adaptation. Combinations of different features were tested at the same time to ensure maximum interoperability.

"PSS-AG brings companies together to test the latest multimedia features and streaming technology, and to build a great media experience through collaborative testing of open standards," said Ralph Neff, chair of IMTC PSS-AG. "We are grateful to NXP Software for providing our group with an ideal environment for productive interoperability testing."

IMTC will continue this successful initiative with other face-to-face events in 2010 to ensure optimal interoperability for the Telecommunications Industry. The PSS-AG group will next meet at IMTC's SuperOp! test event, which will take place in April 2010.
