Taiwan market: Chunghwa Telecom to invest NT$13.5 billion in fiber-optic infrastructure in 2010

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) will continue setting up its fiber-optic network by investing NT$13.5 billion (US$422 million) in 2010, according to the company.

CHT expects the number of its FTTx (fiber to the home/building) subscribers to reach 2.35 million by the end of 2010, accounting for about 60% of its fixed-line broadband Internet-access users, the company indicated.

Including the planned investment in 2010, CHT said it will have cumulatively invested NT$60 billion in its fiber-optic infrastructure.
