Huawei Continues to lead in World SDM and ngHLR Incremental Markets

Friday, April 9, 2010

Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, was ranked the first in the world incremental Subscriber Data Management (SDM) and next-generation Home Location Register (ngHLR) markets by Frost & Sullivan' s market tracker as "World Subscriber Data Management Market, CY 2009".

In the recent past, operators have gradually shifted to a subscriber-centric model and focused on SDM modernization. This posed several challenges, as subscriber data span across many services, networks, and geographical markets. Although many operators are lowering their Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) budgets for 2009 and early 2010, spending on SDM application is expected to increase from 2007 to 2012. The ngHLR, an effective solution to increase the subscriber data management efficiency for mobile network, has been gradually acknowledged and deployed by more and more operators.

The total world SDM market revenues reached $1.73 billion by the end of 2009. The market revenues are forecast to rise to $2.00 billion by the end of 2010 and $2.78 billion by the end of 2012. The Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) is expected to be 23.3 percent from 2009 to 2012, which represents a rapid growth.

The SDM market developed quickly as a result of the popularization of operators' SDM modernization and the aggressive participation of vendors. Huawei' s incremental subscribers have reached 960 million, representing 26.4 percent market share of total in 2009. In the world ngHLR incremental market, Huawei led the industry with a market share of 35.7 percent in terms of 580 million incremental subscribers in 2009.

Huawei ngHLR, based on the Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) platform, provides a maximum capacity of 100 million subscribers, significantly improves maintenance efficiency, lowers operating costs, and offers over 99.9999 percent reliability by sites load sharing mode. This solution also supports the evolution to Unified Subscriber Center (USC), in securing operator's current capital investment. By the end of 2009, Huawei ngHLR solution has been deployed by more than 50 operators in 40 countries around the world.
