AT&T U-verse TV Launches Tennis Channel with Comprehensive Cross-Platform Deal

Monday, June 21, 2010

In time for Wimbledon, AT&T* and Tennis Channel today announced the addition of Tennis Channel to the U-verse® TV lineup. Tennis Channel is available on channel 660 and channel 1660 (High Definition) in the AT&T U450 package, in addition to The Sports Package, with plans for expanded future distribution across multiple AT&Tscreens, including AT&T mobile and U-verse Online services.

Tennis Channel is the only 24-hour, network dedicated to the professional sport and tennis lifestyle. A hybrid of comprehensive sports, health, fitness, pop culture, entertainment, lifestyle and travel programming, the network houses every aspect of the wide-ranging, worldwide tennis community. It also has the most concentrated single-sport coverage in television, with telecast rights to the US Open; The Championships, Wimbledon; Roland Garros (French Open); Australian Open; US Open Series; Davis Cup and more. These events are part of the network’s rights to every one of the top-100 tournaments in tennis, including 3,500 hours of high-definition competition throughout the year.

“We’re proud to bring the Tennis Channel to AT&T customers. It’s a great addition to the U-verse TV channel lineup and our Sports Multiview app,” said Dan York, president of content, AT&T. "This deal helps us with important strategic content initiatives and gives our U-verse TV customers access to even more exciting sports content, and in thrilling HD."

"AT&T's widely distributed launch of Tennis Channel in the development of their forward-thinking business is further affirmation of the unique value of our pro-sports and lifestyle service,” said Patrick Wilson, senior vice president, distribution, Tennis Channel. “This new agreement illustrates the marriage of the top quality, broad U-verse subscriber base with our network’s premium content, as a powerful tool for reaching the most valued audience in television.”

AT&T U-verse offers many features that help fans wanting to catch every exciting tennis moment. The AT&T U-verse DVR with Total Home capability lets you record up to four shows at once and play them back on any connected TV in the house. If you’re not at home for a match, U-verse TV customers can record Tennis Channel coverage with their U-verse DVR and play it back at any time.

U-verse TV also offers an extensive HD channel lineup with more than 130 HD channels. And with fast channel change and picture-in-picture browse, you can channel surf between Tennis Channel and other channels without the delay experienced on other digital TV services. The Tennis Channel is also available in the award-winning Sports Multiview app, which lets you watch up to four channels on your screen at one time.

AT&T U-verse TV is the only 100 percent Internet Protocol-based television (IPTV) service offered by a national service provider, making AT&T U-verse one of the most dynamic and feature-rich services available today. AT&T U-verse TV ranked “Highest in Residential Television Service Satisfaction in the South and West Regions Two Years in a Row,” according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 and 2009 Residential Television Service Provider Satisfaction StudiesSM.
