G.PAK-HOS(TM), the Fast Track to Next Generation Voice-Enabled IP Devices

Adaptive Digital Technologies Simplifies VoIP Product Development.

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. -- Adaptive Digital Technologies' (Adaptive Digital) G.PAK-HOS™ (Half Open Source) is a free, GUI configurable, open architecture reference application, which enables designers to rapidly build software for VoIP Gateways, PBXs, access devices, and next generation IP phone equipment. The dexterity of G.PAK-HOS enables equipment manufacturers the option to include only the Adaptive Digital algorithms, which they require to create most innovative solution for their VoIP product. The unprecedented ability of the G.PAK application to build a DSP-downloadable image in mere minutes allows developers the luxury of choosing the best option for their product while spending far less time in development.

G.PAK-HOS Advantage

* Free G.PAK™ application source code
* Lower entry costs
* Developers maintain control of their design
* Leverage Adaptive Digital's field proven algorithms
* License algorithms as needed to increase application functionality

G.PAK-HOS bridges the gap between inflexible fixed-function chips and custom programmed solutions.

Since its conception in 2002, G.PAK has been the keystone technology behind the many solutions that Adaptive Digital provides its customers. The G.PAK product consists of two components: the VoIP DSP software and a Windows-Based configuration utility. The VoIP DSP software includes all the DSP functionality necessary for most VoIP applications from IP gateways to IP phones. A typical G.PAK configuration may include Adaptive Digital's patented G.168 echo cancellation, tone detection and generation, conferencing and a variety of voice codecs. By including only the components, channel types, and peripherals required by a specific application, the G.PAK generates a cost-effective, customer specific, downloadable DSP software image. With an expanding list of "building block" algorithms, G.PAK-HOS will allow designers to pack a lot of sophisticated features into one single chip, significantly reducing development time and cost.

Occasionally it is necessary to customize the G.PAK software beyond the capabilities of the automated configuration utility. For example, an application may require a custom algorithm or a custom interface. Previous versions of G.PAK required any such customization to be done by Adaptive Digital. By making the G.PAK-HOS ™ application source code available, Adaptive Digital has empowered its customers to take control of the DSP application by allowing them to modify the fully tested G.PAK source code themselves. This gives them a remarkable head start in their application development.

"A good analogy is to think of G.PAK & G.PAK-HOS as menu items," said Scott Kurtz, Vice President, Adaptive Digital Technologies. "Our customers may a) order a complete meal (turnkey DSP software), b) order ingredients (algorithms) a-la-carte, or c) step into the kitchen, use our ingredients and our free recipe (G.PAK-HOS application source code) as a starting point, and create their own masterpiece DSP applications."

G.PAK-HOS is currently ported to Texas Instruments OMAP35x™, TMS320C6424 and TMS320C6452digital signal processors (DSPs). TI's feature-rich C64x+™ generation of multi media processors give developers the advantage of the higher channel density and integrated peripherals specifically tuned for VoIP and telecom applications. The combination of Adaptive Digital's robust, field proven telephony algorithms, the G.PAK-HOS advantage, and TI's high performance processors is the fast track to next generation voice-enabled IP devices.

G.PAK in its original concept is still available to developers. For those who do not wish to delve in to the DSP, G.PAK is available on TI's OMAP35x, C64x+, 'C64x™, 'C55x™, and 'C54x™ generations of application processors. Adaptive Digital can customize a solution to fit your specific requirements.
