HTC Legend has problem with grayscale display

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Copies of the Android smartphone HTC Legend have problems displaying grayscale on the screen. Therefore looks like gray-green, brown or pink, says Tweakers.net screen test.

It is unclear whether the problem lies at the AMOLED screen or the white balance adjustment. The problem with the gray screen came up during testing, which Tweakers.net performed with the equipment of Spectracal Calman. These measures include what the screen with ascending grayscale display.

Users get a Legend, according to the measurement results as a gray mixture of black and white look, but as a mixture of black and white and another color. This may look like pink gray, brown or green. Tweakers.net Legends had two available and suggested a difference in color between the two sets down. The differing shades of gray can be particularly irritating when viewing websites and playback of video content. The AMOLED screen is good at displaying black, it was so black that the equipment does not registered.

The Legend, according to the results a maximum brightness of 253cd/m2, not enough screen to read in bright conditions, such as outdoors in sunlight. The Hero is doing better in that regard, that a brightness of 310cd/m2 display. Under dark conditions has a screen 120-140cd/m2 enough.

Legend has simultaneously announced as the HTC Desire an AMOLED screen. It seems that Desire has the same problem with the screen, users complain it has longer pink colors on the screen. The screen tests are done because of a smartphone that review will be published Wednesday.
