Taiwan market: Chunghwa Telecom offers incentives to promote MOD

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) on April 20 announced the launch of its family pack, a price-cut scheme, to promote its MOD service, aiming to increase the number of subscribers from 670,000 currently to one million by the end of 2010.

The family pack offers two reduced prices: a cut in fixed monthly charges from NT$299 (US$9.5) originally to NT$209 for around 60 channels, or from NT$399 to NT$309 for around 80 channels, according to CHT. In addition, the family pack includes free movies and various value-added services at a low monthly charge of NT$10 per item, CHT indicated.

Viewing that many families have two or more TVs, CHT will launch two free STBs (set-top boxes) for a family subscriber in line with the MOD sales promotion.
