Virgin Mobile USA Announces Extension of "Free I.P." Program to This Summer's Lady Gaga U.S. Monster Ball Tour

Fans Can Once Again Volunteer to Help Homeless Youth and Earn Free Tickets to Lady Gaga Concerts.

WARREN, N.J., --Virgin Mobile USA announced that it will extend the popular "Free I.P." volunteer program to its continuing title sponsorship of the explosive Monster Ball Starring Lady Gaga Tour this summer. Free I.P. will give hundreds of lucky fans the chance to get VIP tickets by volunteering time at local homeless youth shelters. Working with Lady Gaga, Virgin Mobile will also enable her fans to donate funds by text message at each show throughout the 26-city U.S. tour.

Virgin Mobile established the Free I.P. program in 2009 at Virgin Mobile FreeFest as part of The RE*Generation initiative to raise awareness of the continuing problem of homeless youth. "These exciting partnerships like the Monster Ball Tour Starring Lady Gaga enable us to reach millions of people with incentives to volunteer," said Dan Schulman, president of Virgin Mobile USA. "When we conducted Free I.P. as part of FreeFest and Lady Gaga's earlier tour, we were able to generate more than 30,000 hours of community service and produce nearly 10,000 personal hygiene kits for distribution by homeless youth organizations."

Virgin Mobile recently partnered with the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children & Youth (NAEHCY), which works to identify and support homeless youth within the school system. NAEHCY connects educators, parents, advocates, researchers and service providers to improve school enrollment, attendance and the overall success of children and youth whose lives have been disrupted by the lack of safe, permanent and adequate housing. Through this new partnership, Virgin Mobile will be able to use the Free I.P. program as part of the Monster Ball Starring Lady Gaga Tour to provide critical services to assist homeless youth to succeed in school.

"We are thrilled to partner with Virgin Mobile to better meet the educational needs of homeless youth," said Christina Endres, NAEHCY president. "School offers critical stability and support during times of crisis, and education is the surest path out of homelessness. We are so pleased to have the opportunity to engage music fans in this critical issue."

In 2007, Virgin Mobile partnered with the National Alliance to End Homelessness and other groups to have Congress designate November as National Homeless Youth Awareness Month. Virgin Mobile has introduced several programs to make it easy for the public to help young people living on the streets. One program, Txt2Clothe, provided local youth agencies with access to more than 200,000 articles of new clothing.
