We just called to say...Orange return to Glastonbury for 12th year

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Orange is pleased to announce it’s 12th year as Official Communications Partner at the Glastonbury Festival and is set to unveil some exciting onsite initiatives at the festival’s milestone 40th Anniversary year.

The hugely successful downloadable mobile application and ultimate interactive guide to Glastonbury, Orange GlastoNav, re-launches in June featuring new and improved functionality as well as an iPhone version. Once downloaded, the service is completely free, easy to use and available across any mobile network on the majority of UK handsets.

For those not lucky enough to have got their hands on tickets to the Festival, Orange will be giving you the chance to win tickets to Glastonbury through an exciting ticket giveaway on the brand new site www.orange.co.uk/glastonbury launching later in the month and featuring exclusive festival content.

Last year saw Orange collaborating with 50’s inspired pop songstress turned model VV Brown. Coming soon, Orange announce a very special partnership with one of music’s hottest new artists.

This year is Glastonbury’s 40th anniversary and to celebrate Orange will be investigating what music lovers can expect from the festival in the future. Orange has commissioned a Future Laboratory report ‘The Future of Festivals: Glastonbury in 2050’, findings will be announced in June. Research and development teams have also been working to bring festival goers an innovative eco technology device. 2009’s Orange Power Pump provided a perfect alternative charging device for festival lovers who wanted stay in touch with their friends from the comfort of their own tents. This device was part of a rich heritage of eco technology innovations including the Orange Mobile Wind Charger in 2007 and the Orange Dance Charger in 2008.

2010 will see a new and completely re-vamped version of Orange’s Chill ‘n’ Charge area. The multi-media space which, last year, charged over 50,000 festival goers’ mobile phones at 600 charging points will reflect ‘Glastonbury through the ages’. The brand new Chill ‘n’ Charge area will have more charging points and exciting new interactive elements and will also feature a soundtrack of stripped back acoustic performances, highlights last year included Maccabees, Temper Trap and Marina & the Diamonds.

Glastonbury Festival 2010 takes place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset, from 23rd - 27th June. For more information about Glastonbury Festival go to www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk
