Sony Ericsson is making a great marketing focus around football this year. By entering our Challenge, you can gain leverage and exposure from our activities.
PlayNow™ is our popular mobile content store, and we’re stocking up with football applications and games ready for the World Cup. Just submit your app at submit.sonyericsson.com – qualified apps are on sale within 30 days.
Developers whose apps pass qualification also get:
* placement in the PlayNow™ store
* featuring in Sony Ericsson’s social media channels
Additionally, two developers will win:
* 2 Tickets to one of the football matches of the World Cup 2010 in South Africa, (Cote D’Ivoire vs. Portugal, June 15, 2010), including flights and 3 nights in a 5-star hotel.
* Official press release referencing the developer and application
* Additional press coverage and promotion on Sony Ericsson websites
How to Enter
The Sony Ericsson Football Developer Challenge is open for all clearly football-related apps and games that run on one or more of Sony Ericsson’s phones using these platforms: Google’s Android OS, Symbian (S60 5th Edition), Java ME, Windows Mobile.
Developers must meet the normal criteria for submitting content, as explained here. To submit content and enter:
* If you haven’t already, sign up as a Developer World member.
* Log in at submit.sonyericsson.com and submit your content. There’s a detailed example here.
* For content type select Applications and then select Football as the category. (Please also do this if your submission is a game)
* We will review your application. If your app is accepted and therefore qualifies, we will let you know by Email and request you to confirm that you accept the Challenge Terms & Conditions. You can download the them here.
The last date on which you can enter the competition is April 20, 2010.
The two winners of the tickets (2 tickets per winner) will be notified within 10 days of the closing date using the contact details in the Developer World MyAccount. The winners will also be announced here on Developer World’s website.

What platforms are you accepting for the competition?
Google’s Android OS, Symbian (S60 5th Edition), Java ME, Windows Mobile.
What if my football application is already on PlayNow™? Do I need to re-submit?
Applications already submitted will be automatically submitted into the Challenge.
What are the criteria for winning the competition?
A panel of Sony Ericsson selected judges will make the final decision at their discretion. They will take into account various aspects including: number of downloads, design, use-ability, usage of device features and novelty.
Is the competition only open for new applications?
You are encouraged to develop a new application but you may also submit existing applications and games.
What happens after the competition? Does my application go into PlayNow™?
Yes, your application will go on to PlayNow™ as soon it has been qualified.
What if my application is ad sponsored?
You may submit ad-sponsored apps and we will review them according to our normal procedure.
If I win the tickets, can I sell them?
No, the tickets are personal and may not be sold.
Can I take anyone with me?
Yes, you are allowed to bring one guest with you (total of 2 tickets per winning application).
When do I hear if I have won?
The winners will be announced on or before April 25, 2010.
Does the application have to be exclusive to Sony Ericsson?
We’d love it to be exclusive, but that is not necessary to enter the contest or sell on PlayNow™.
How many applications may I submit?
You may submit as many applications as you like, but each participant can only win one pair of tickets
