DOCOMO, Renesas, Fujitsu, NEC, Panasonic and Sharp will develop new program mobile platform

Japanese companies NTT DOCOMO, INC., Renesas Of electronics Of corporation, Fujitsu Of limited, NEC Of corporation, Panasonic Of mobile Of communications Co., Ltd. and Sharp Of corporation declared about the signing agreement on the joint development above the new program platform for the cell phones, which will be compatible with such operating systems of both Symbian and Linux. The commercial starting of cell phones on the new platform is planned to the second-half of the following financial year, which concludes in March 2012 for the companies.

New platform will propose the higher rate of working high-quality video, and also the expansion of functional possibilities in processing of 3d images, which will be used in the new multimedia functions of future cell phones.

All six companies will use their own experience in the development of cell phones on the base of the current developments - Symbian or Linux. In particular, new platform will allow the producers of the cell phones Of fujitsu, NEC, Panasonic Of mobile Of communications and Sharp to avoid the need for the independent development of the basic functions of program working, which will allow them to considerably reduce expenditures and time for development, and in also the time, to pack more than time and means in the development of specific for the company- producer of the functional possibilities of telephone.

This platform is planned to be that proposed to other producers of cell phones beyond the limits of Japan. Furthermore during the examination stands a question about the expansion of the compatability of new platform with other open systems, such as Android.
