Taiwan and China mobile telecom associations sign five cooperation MOUs

The Taiwan Telecommunication Industry Development Association (TTIDA) formed by the five 3G mobile telecom carriers in Taiwan, and its China counterpart, the Association of Communications Across the Taiwan Strait (ACATS), on April 23 signed five memorandums of understanding (MOUs) for comprehensive cooperation in five aspects, according to TTIDA.

The five aspects are establishment of a mechanism specifically for cooperation and exchanges between members of TTIDA and ACATS, promotion of joint investment to build direct cross-strait submarine cable lines, cooperation in tapping and investment in both markets and other markets in Asia, cooperation in data roaming and 3G value-added services, cooperation to boost development of telecom-related hardware and software supply chains in Taiwan and China mainly for the global market, TTIDA pointed out.

The five members of TTIDA are Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Taiwan Mobile (TWM), Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET), Vibo Telecom and Asia Pacific Broadband Telecom (APBT), while China Mobile Communications, China Telecom and China United Telecommunications are three key members of ACATS.
