LG’S PLASMA TV NAMED PICK OF THE PICTURES BY TIPA

Friday, April 30, 2010

SEOUL -- LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in the flat panel display and audio-video devices market, announced that its 50/60 PK950 Plasma TV has been recognized as the “Best Photo TV Display” in the 2010 TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) Award.

TIPA, a global organization of photo and imaging magazines, has been honoring excellence in imaging since 1991. Recognized as the premiere prize in the photo and imaging industry, TIPA Award recipients are selected by the association’s editors from around the world. In making their decision, the editors take into consideration factors such as innovation, design and value.

In a statement accompanying the award, TIPA editors said, “The 50/60 PK950 offers broadband connectivity and uses the latest technology for high-end picture quality – both still and moving. Both the 50 and 60-inch screens deliver not only HD video content in excellent quality, but also give photo enthusiasts a high quality opportunity to display their images saved on an USB pendrive.”

TIPA judges were particularly impressed with LG`s TruBlack Filter, which helps block glare and enhances images on the screen to improve picture quality.

“The 50/60 PK950’s outstanding picture is the result of the convergence of several state-of-the-art imaging technologies,” said Simon Kang, CEO and President of LG Home Entertainment Company. “The 50/60 PK950 is a gateway to a new dimension of Full HD entertainment that gives consumers the benefit of both smart technology and stylish design.”

LG N2B1 was also named the “Best Storage Backup System” by TIPA in its 2010 Award. LG’s N2B1 is the perfect storage solution for photo and imaging experts, featuring two hot-swappable bays for hard drives up to 2 terabytes each and a Blu-ray optical disc writer to provide near-endless safe and redundant storage. To meet the needs of media professionals with expanding digital media libraries, the N2B1 features easy setup, user-friendly networking, secure file sharing across the internet and the ability to back up files directly from memory cards.

TIPA cited the LG N2B1’s ability to bring enterprise-level networked backup and storage to independent photographers, filmmakers and graphic designers, by making advanced features easy to use.

With the complementary mix of cutting-edge technologies resulting in outstanding picture quality and innovative storage solution, the 50/60 PK950 and N2B1 are just another way in which LG Home Entertainment Company is enriching consumers’ lives.
