Friday, April 30, 2010

ESPOO, Finland – Both the Nokia X6 and Nokia 5230 have received a new software update bringing a host of performance benefits and a sprinkling of new features. Alongside the recently introduced free walk and drive navigation, the lucky twosome get changes to the browser, social networking updates and a few new other nifty touches. Join us after the jump for the full rundown and to find out how you can get hold of it.

The latest incarnation promises a range of enhancements including a leap to the latest version of the web browser, taking it to 7.2. Alongside that comes the addition of LifeCasting with Ovi Maps. Want to let your friends on Facebook know where you are? Hit a Lifecasting update and your location will be shared right there on Facebook.

Kinetic scrolling makes its way deeper into the menu, too, with its arrival in grid view to make navigation the devices easier and faster. Both updates will also bring over the air software and app update polling, so it’ll tell you when you’ve got updates available.

Other updates of note include Flash video Phase 3 along with an updated version of Ovi Sync 2.0 and Ovi Music.

If you’ve got a Nokia X6 or Nokia 5230 you can download the latest update now. Head over to Nokia Software Updater to find out if your device is ready for an update.
