MediaTek may raise 1Q10 guidance again, says paper

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

A Chinese-language United Daily News (UDN) report has claimed that Mediatek may again raise its revenue guidance for the first quarter of 2010, but the company has responded by saying it was not the source of the newspaper's article.

MediaTek is likely to adjust upward its first-quarter guidance for a second time, according to the paper, without citing sources.

MediaTek on March 5 announced a revision to its first-quarter guidance, saying it expects revenues for the quarter to grow 5-10% sequentially, compared to its original estimate of 0-5% growth. The IC design house attributed the upward revision to better-than-expected handset chip demand from China and emerging markets.
